    Nims impossible for some

I bought this game as an mmo, to have fun and explore, love games like borderlands etc have completed pretty much everything except the last phase of the Nim having tried it 12 times it is beginning to leave a bitter taste in my mouth.

Yes I have read the guides but how can I put this, Being retired and while when the original doom came out I could have given twitch situations a run for there money we are talking atleast 20 years later and my reaction times are not a good as once were.

The Nim fight is the end of a story line and specifically setup it seems to be solo play, this should not mean that those who hone there reactions on darksouls, planetside CoD etc should be the group that can complete this.

I am not saying it should be easy but it is not a raid or "hardcore" mode game play or shouldn't be as it is part of the story of defiance and thus everyone who plays defiance should be able to complete it.

I have tried with shotgun, tried with bmg, tried with cloak, decoy wasted all my scrip and modded my weapons as best as I could, I hug the central console tower and can avoid a lot of the incoming but it isn't enough, it really is ruining my love of the game so I have gone back to doing other things in the game trying to rebuild funds.

I have solo played most of the rest of the game even the other boss mobs but this one has me beat.

whats your ego?? if its less than 600,, go grind your stats....

utilise your ego perks (which should be maxed out) to the best configuration for how you play,,,

    level up your weapon proficiency......

then return and all will be good

You don't even need ego 600+ I defeated Nim at 485 ego. It's a matter of strategy.

Weapons: Shotgun or AR as secondary, Primary a BMG (I recomend at least an intensify beam mod). BMG also heals you remember to heal.

Strat: Move around don't stand still, I recommend having at least on level of blur as well for those "OH S*" Moments. Also the Regeneration and Deflection perks are advantageous here too.

Its a long fight it will take upwards of 20+ minutes so be prepared for that.

Remember the second part comes with obstacles, they are also obstacles to him, use them for cover, also remember you have a dodge skill hit the alt button when he gets too close and roll away from him.

It's an easy strategy, but its a long fight. Use the AR or Shotgun depending on your style of play for small burst damage against him as he runs in. Then back to the BGM, think of the BGM as a near constant DOT you are placing on him.

Oh and don't forget you have grenades throw them at him and his decoys. It's a bit of a stretch to wrap some peoples head around the fact that they are not decoys, they are him he's moving so fast that your ego is registering him in multiple locations at once, hit the "decoys" it hurts him.

When he goes to the side and does his little monolog and throws his sword hide behind one of the obstacles and just as he throws his sword, right click your BGM to start healing you, the obstacle will block most of the damage but whatever gets around it the BGM nearly instantly heals.

It's all a matter of right weapons and patience.

Having the same issues... and really it should be made so that ANY spec can beat nim... training as a sniper and having my entire game thrown away to be forced to use (or completely level up a brand new) weapon is a sign that gameplay balance was seriously tossed out the window.

Your average player doesn't have the twitch skills of Dark Souls or other FPSs... it's an MMOTPS so your average player is going to be an MMO player, not a CoD player. When an MMO player hits this fight, they are going to try it a few times, get pissed off, then leave the game in droves.

This is not good for your customer base at all. As it stands, I am going to abandon the mission, never come back to it until I hear it's been tweaked to allow for every spec and weapon type to have a solid chance, and only play when new Episode missions come out.

TL;DL version - If I have to respec or change my playstyle (which has worked awesomely for most of the game so far) then this fight is badly designed.

Each solo boss fight has different strategies, in a game where there are no classes people need to learn to be more flexible. When I first did Nim I was like you, OMG! But then a few people gave me some advice and then I went through it fine. I know several people that use sniper on him, but really with the flexibility of 3 load outs you should be able to handle boss fights that need different strategies.

    Killed him first time

All i went in with was a AR and a shotgun i did it at level 345 all you have to do is keep rolling around i found the second part the hardest i am now level 500+ you dont need to grind i find people who grind a bit sad thats why i like games like guild wars 2 because in guild wars you get xp for almost anything but defiance is just as good as guild wars 2 but people dont give it a chance

I would agree with you except for one thing, this game is not secret world where it is a given that you have multiple builds to deal with all situations, until this one fight every boss fight every challenge of the game I have been able to complete to design an end boss fight so different than any other game fight mechanic inculding all the other boss within the game is not how it should be.

I will try your advice but remember my problem is along with a lot of mmo players who came here not from twitch combat games that our reactions are not fast enough to dodge very well.

I know the mechanics of the Bio gun, I know the game quite well and my build mainly an overcharge / hp / dps type can handle anything else in the game except him.

Most of us played came up through mmo games AND FPS like halflife and sin we didn't venture into twitch mechanics, now given that I will say I love the combat in this game.

Do you see what I mean a lot of us can handle every other challenge in this game including every boss fight except that last phase of Nim for that to be happening something is going wrong.

    Anyway ...

The point is folks, the game is being sold as an MMO and the co-op game play is something that many (most) players are looking for when they play Defiance. So it comes as a nasty shock when there are solo only missions and bosses. Ive not faced Nim and Ive not had issues with any other solo only content, but that doenst mean I cant understand the frustrations of players who are stuck up against this content. A fix does not mean "nufing" a boss encounter or solo mission. Trion needs to make future content truly co-op. Give folks who solo the stuff better loot, but make the content available, and doable, for all.

They did sell the game as a MMO for crying out loud.
