Grenade Launcher (the ones that explode on impact, 5 to 6 round magazine) and AR were a great combo for me, along with my usual respark shield (think I had a crappy green one, no resistance or mods on it when I fought him).

(Worth noting, I didn't look up any fight mechanics, guides or spoilers either.)

As far as perks go, I really don't think there are that many aside defensives that will make or break you, as the majority of the fight is mechanics and playing smart, not a simple pop him in the head-type dps race, but I did use decoy, and played super defensively. Took a long time, died twice on the first phase, once on the second phase, and once on the third phase, but learned it all pretty quickly.

Gotta admit, was truly one of the more difficult boss fight I've seen in a game in a long while. I might play too many video games, or it could have just been a tricky one...

Phase 1: Spent the majority of the time dodging, and took a few shots with my AR here and there, but mostly when he tired out after his 4 pronged crazy, spider-monkey charge attack.

Phase 2: Here is where the grenade launcher shines. It blows away his clones very quickly. Get to one side as he spawns with his clones on the other, and if you time your grenades+your grenade launcher just right as the Nims funnel through, you can blow up all or half of the clones very quickly, though it isn't as easy as it sounds, as your ammo is limited, and you don't wanna frag yourself. Plus, once the place is swarming with 6+ clones or whatever the number is, you really gotta be quick on your feet.

When his clones pop up and surround you from the mezzanine, the grenade launcher busts em down pretty quickly, just try to find the real Nim ASAP and if not, kill as many of the clones as possible, then dodge the charged attacks.

Phase 3: Was just bob and weave all over again. Hide behind pillars on the massive attacks, pop out, take some shots, rinse and repeat.

End result - bag yourself one dead Nim. I ate his heart to gain his powers, but mostly it just gave me gas.

Good hunting to all of you o/

You're better off going with a clustershot shotgun...it fires grenades exactly the same as the grenade launcher(they do the same amount of dammage too) except that you have a much larger magazine size even without modding them.

Grats, I started reading this thread and I feel for ya, being old myself (48) you start to lose your reaction time! But I haven't started Nim yet, still trying to do all the side quest. I get a few hours a day playing, I just got to San Fran and did the first side mission and had a HELL of a time (died 4 times).

    Phase 1: BMG
Phase 2: Detonator or Cluster shot shotgun
Phase 3: anything where hip firing is good. Mobility is the name of the game.

Yes NIM is tough, about damn time we had a boss who's not a push over. I come from a different era of gaming, Nintendo games where barley beatable. Now people cry if they need to play it more than 4 times. Look at it like practice, once you beat Nim your dodge and strafing skills should improve greatly. Why are the Co-op people whinnying? That's crazy, stop holding hands and accomplish something for yourself. Besides they have an equal pile of Co-op missions so what's the problem.

NIM was fun, Thank you Trion. Just please leave NIM as is, he's perfect for sharping the skills of noobish players.

I put this in another thread as well, thought it would fit nicely here too ;D

Yea, um... I finally got to Nim last night...
And I beat him first try with an LMG + Overcharge -__-

All these people are talking about needing a strategy, precise weapons, perfect shield... are you kidding me?
The only strategy you need is to spam the evade button. Hell, you don't even need to evade! You can dodge ALL of his attacks by simply running in the opposite direction.

I packed an infector 'just in case' and I didn't even use it. After his attacks he stands still for like 3 seconds before attacking again... when he's standing still.... DOING NOTHING.... Shoot him!

    1st phase
I came in expecting the worst, after reading this thread of course, so I was running circles around him at the start... getting his attacks down. After that, I just lit him up. You can kill him with 2 clips of the LMG.

    2nd phase
Took me 5 seconds to realize what he was doing... I had recently been watching Naruto, and the first thing I thought of was 'shadow clones' L0L! I just tossed out a grenade to thin them out, watching Nims health bar the whole time. When I would find the real one, I would light him up and when he ran, repeat.

    3rd phase
    Same as first.

Went up against him with a Scattergun as secondary and fully auto AR as main, struggled like a ***** on him and died alot when he was more or less 1 shot from dead. The tactic that worked for me on the last phase was just to run in circles around the center pillar, keeping it between me and his AoE's. Yes, he teleports to you right before AoE's, but you got enough time to get around the pillar to avoid it. And then it's just a matter of getting in attacks.

Didn't have one on me when I was up against Nim. Also, the wide blast radius helped make up for the smaller magazine size. Worked well enough at the time.

Finished NIM last night in 2.5 hours and 14K in repairs. It was very Buggy and very frustrating. My equipment was a
LVL 3 Pump shot gun 15 rounds 250 mag
A huricane Regenerator III DX shield (regenerates health when shield is full) This was MVP for me because in all the phases you have time to use cloak and hide till shield and health are full and Do not forget to reload during this time lol.
    Ego : Cloak
    Perks: Single minded
    Shadow strike
    Cellular armor
    Fortitude
    Thick skinned
Tactics Phase one: Use Cloak as much as possible and strafe around his linear moves
Phase 2: Just used Center pillar to take cover behind and move around to pick off clones. (Used cloak to refill.) The clones do not hit that hard and as soon as he advances on you and you shoot him he teleports away.
Phase 3: Run around back pillars and staying out of LOS for his blasts. Once you realize he will teleport to you before he does his Blast just remember his emote and run to other pillar he does it 2 times so just keep running circles around pillars then strafe shoot him rinse and repeat it does take some time. You really need to stay on the move this fight over you will blasted by his Aoe's
