I finally beat Nim today, using just a BMG and Cloak. Admittedly, it took me around 5 hours ( 2 hours last night and then I reset the mission and then 3 hours today as I was too tired last night to continue).

Phase 1 after the first few runs last night, I then managed to do it on the second attempt today.

Phase 2 I found the toughest as my reactions are not the fastest at being 44 years old, especially with all the clones that start spawning and you need to keep track off. Finally I personally found it easier to go on the offensive with these and kill the clones as fast as possible to make them manageable in the later stages. This was by far the phase that I was killed on the most but still determination paid in the end.

Phase 3 was by far the easiest for me and I killed Nim on the first attempt at this phase. Just make sure to avoid the orange areas and jump when he is about to do a ground slam.

Fighting Nim at the end is utter GARBAGE!!!

its not only fighting Nim that is poorly balanced its the entire experience over all.

In some instances I can tear through enemies without impunity and other instance my death is practically instantaneous.

Balance your game Trion or have your MMO game introduced to the used game market!!!!

Today I finally got to the last main mission, Defiance. From the crying on the forum I expected an overtuned, difficult fight. What I got was miles away from that. Nim died to my SMG and Decoy (I was using damage reduction perks, fairly useless on a mobile fight) on the first try, without me ever being downed. What exactly made him so difficult? The telegraphed attacks? Do you even roll?

First I'd like to say that I think all these main story missions should have a multi-player mode to beat them, similar to Diablo or Borderlands where the more players you have (up to 4) increases the difficulty and loot. Rift also handled this well in that they have raids and dungeons, but then create solo/duo story versions of some.

In any case this game makes things a bit difficult for people at two points, a Bullet for a Bad Man and Nim. Both require patience and will take more time than any other boss in the game and require different tactics for each. They are unlike any other fights in the game, which is why I think they become frustrating to players.

That said, I have focused only on leveling up Bolt Action/Auto Sniper Rifles and Assault/Light Machine Guns. When I got to Nim I realized I needed a BMG and used one. I had already started with a skill of 1 since I did the code enters prior to launch. I had an EGO rating below 400 when I beat him and here is what I did.

Perks used: Cloak, extend cloak, shorten cloak time, hp regen (I swapped this in to replace my hunter's stance I was using at the time).

Remember: NEVER try to go toe to toe with this guy, this fight is all about shooting him a couple times, run away, shoot, run away, shoot runaway, if you're trying to take him from full life to half life in one go, you're going to die because you can't avoid all his attacks, which is why you need to always run away/hide whenever he talks.

Phase 1 - Shoot him in face, run around pillars when needed

Phase 2 - Jump up onto a block, spray and pray around to make clones disappear and then kill the clones on the second floor quickly when they appear

Phase 3 - I found it easiest to immediately run behind a pillar (don't shoot him at start of fight) to avoid his first blast, shoot him a couple times, then run to the opposite side of the map sprinting and healing as needed. When he talks he will always immediately appear behind you, so if you hear him talk, start rolling forward to avoid his melee attack and get behind a pillar. I did this tactic and took little damage, though it took me a good solid 15 minutes to complete phase 3 as I simply dwindled him down and down and down - remember he doesn't heal, you can.

Edit: Also, he can see you while you are invisible, so it does nothing to help hide from him, but what it will do is start your shield regen timer to kick in so your shields will come back as you're running. You could probably substitute the damage resistance perks if you have them, but I didn't at the time I fought him.
I'm a dude who does things online and I play every MMO I can get my hands on. I also create Ave Molech.

Pretty sure I could beat Nim with a handgun at rank 1 with no perks on.

This fight isn't about twitch or your ego or your build.

It is about learning the mechanics of the boss fight and being 1 step ahead of the mechanics.

This isn't some NASA Program designed by MIT to defeat you..... it is a freaking video game designed by TRION.

Take a step back pay more attention to what is going on and honestly this fight will seem like a joke to you.
