The first two don't sound particularly challenging.

More challenging than it currently stands though. I've always had more fun when a hellbug arkfall suddenly gets invaded by nearby raiders (and the occasional hulker)

Not to mention that you can't really comment about darkmatter arkfalls cause the mechanics would likely be unique. (Not to mention we might actually get to fight a goliath)

No one is EVER going to stay in their level 20 gear! Gear is pretty much handed to you as you level in most MMOs. If you level to level 10 and do 100 more damage it doesn't matter because the mobs have 100 more health. What you do at low levels is exactly the same as high levels. The gear isn't better because the ratio of your stats to the contents/mob/boss stats remains the same.

And even with multiple classes old zones still become dead, and when you make an alt there is no one around to play with. This is that "single player game" feeling allot of MMOs end up with and make people want to rush to "endgame" so they can play with people again.

Ok...im level 1480...i use an assault rifle i found at 138...luv it...won't give it up...love the synergy perks it has...but my character progression with my rifles is at 19...come at me with those legendary orange anythings and see what happens... <3

Spike.. I've been trying to tell people that very same thing for ages now.. or at least it seems like that. Do me a favor.. IM me the class bonuses for the AR if you have a couple seconds to spare. I haven't gotten mine about 8 now, but I'm trying to put together some numbers so that people who whine about progression can get some education.. not that I think they'll listen.. but still

And yeah.. I've still got a couple of level 100-ish weapons as well.. my purple VOT Bolter is one of them, and my favorite sniper rifle in the game. Even without the synergy mods in it (it's got level 3's).. it really puts down the pain-train.

Love the major arkfall mastercard symbol...and just when u think it cant get any better...a minor arlfall drops in on the very spot where the progenerator boss spawns...and u have a monarch join the fight to fight the hulker that wandered in...true story...btw

Please don't get me wrong, this isn't a "I'm leaving" post, but I am looking for a bit of a pep talk. The face is, there is little to no difference between an ego 300 and ego 10. While this is nice for being able to play with other people lower and higher levels, its frustrating because I feel like I'm just spinning my tires. I'm only at EGO 420 or so but the guns I'm finding are EXACTLY the same as the ones I found at 10, 20, 80, 100, etc. Other than story, I'm having a hard time getting motivated to play.

And IF by some chance you do find a gun you enjoy, you only get it for a limited time because the game forces you to use different guns once they're maxed out in XP if you want to gain anymore weapon XP. How does that make ANY sense??

Without any sense of progression people aren't going to be playing this game long. Look at other games, especially MMO's, you have to have SOMETHING that makes people come back for more. Unless I'm missing something, Defiance is missing that hook that makes people stay with a game for an extended period of time.

Some people want their stats to play the game for them, others like skill to be a requirement to do well.

It's a choice of different players, not "do it my way or the game will fail".

Oh look another there is no progression between level 1-3 thread.

Level 1 weapon basic weapon no mod slots
Level 500 weapon 2-4 mod slots
Level 1000weapon 3-4 mod slots synergy bonuses plus reload,damage ego duration bonuses.

I dont know about you but that seems like plenty of progression.
Considering that's only 1/5 the level cap so far tomorrow when I hit 1500 ego I'll let you know how the weapons have improved.

In any other mmo you dont get the super weapon 1/5th of the way through your leveling.
When you whiny bastards hit the level cap then you can actually see how the progression works.
But for the love of god stop with this bs I hit 400ego and there's no progression.
In any other MMORPG do you see level 5-15's on their forums whining how they can't one shot everything they run across.

For the last time 5000is the ego cap dont come here *****ing about progression until your at least half of that.

There are a LOT of games without persistent progression. Look beyond your tiny little box, and you see arcade games, card games, board games, sports games, most competitive games, etc... Interestingly, most of the examples you mentioned, happens to be single player games too.

Uh, yeah - I listed those single player games because you said "non-mmo games don't need progression so why does an mmo?" - and I listed how most single player games DO have progression. At least single player games in the same vein as this one, unlike the examples you gave (arcade, card, board, sports)

this is definatly the best setup to ensure the pvp is balanced across levels, people need to remeber this is a shooter first and mmo second.

(And yes I know balance isnt perfect yet, but this is the best "start" for getting it balanced)

Also how would it make sense that a weapon got stronger by you being higher ego lvl? makes no sense, a weapon is a dead-object it makes no sense that it would evolve with its user.

The user of the that weapon can however get better with it, which is why we have stuff like weapon skill levels, which make quite the diffrence, without being over the top.
