I don't 100% agree on this one, but Elandriel got a point here.
Talking about PvP, it's all about learning how to use weapon efficiently (like APB for instance).
Don't use LMG at point blank, don't use shotguns mid range etc ...

You can easily beat any EGO level if you learn and practice the positioning and use of weapons.

However, if you completely fails at aiming ... that's another story !

I do half agree that it's nice to feel like you are uber. I believe that the real game hasn't really started yet since the show premiers today. As long as it's not only 2 simple quests I'll be happy.

It's the usual pattern. In 2 weeks you will start to see the HATE posts, followed by "where is everyone, is the game dying?". of course, when you try to explain the different approach and philosophy, they'll call you delusional fanboy and other idiocies of the like.
Unfortunately, this is all too true. =\

Id say until you hit at least 1000 EGO (Maybe even 1250) you really shouldnt be complaining about progression yet. Theres not a big enough difference in gear and whats available to you until you hit that point (with some exceptions for nice rares obviously).

1000 Ego strikes me as being roughly equal to the level 8-10 range in some other, 'typical' MMO game.

Almost every game that has been made so far requires only skills to learn the mechanics of the movement, shooting and similar. You just need to teach your muscles how to perform a limited number of movements as fast as possible. Which means that every person (there are rare exceptions of course) who has put enough hours into the game becomes skilled. The longer you play, more skilled you become.
After all ... skill is wiping your "behind" with toilet paper without getting any of the "brown stuff" on your fingers. And yet no one is talking about that as something that takes skill.
I have felt the paper tear, with horror, and felt the shame of skin on brown streaked skin.

Surely, I said aloud to myself, surely there is no lower state for a man to know. I have failed, and failed utterly at the mere act of living.

Jests aside, I'm with the horizontalists in the thread. There are plenty of games with vertical progression to choose from. Not every game needs to follow the same formula. If they did, we'd only need one game. Instead we like to be able to choose games from a vast list of variations.

There are a lot of games I hate, but I hate them based on personal opinion. I hate football games, golf games, tennis games, etc. but I would never say "This Tiger Woods golf game is terribad, it should be set in space and have lasers and aliens. Every Tiger Woods golf game should be set in space and have lasers and aliens. Everyone who disagrees is a Tiger Woods fanboy." I just play Fuzzy's World of Miniature Space Golf instead.

I'm currently at 1900 EGO and I find weapons with much better modifiers than ever before.
There is progression, it is not Borderlands like with extreme jumps but having an additional 1.25 crit multiplicator is something isn't it?
Would you be so kind to go and help in this thread :

Or at least make another suggestion how to get this message across.

yes, this isn't to say that 'vertical progression' is baaad. I like it, I play games with gear grind. I also like to play different styles of games. Complaining about progression not being like in WOW or EQ, is not right because it never was meant to be (hell one of the reasons I initially didn't pay any attention to the game was that). You have PLENTY of things to complain about, just don't complain those that are working as intended...

If you add the 120 training codes (you can find them online) you get various inventory slots and some nice perks and weapons

I have already done that but things add up really quick. i am forced to throw away things i can use due to space issues. A bank can really come in handy.
