Anyhow, I'm out of here, my point has been made and I got to murder a few internet tough guys. So, we'll call the fact that you ruined my game an epic failure and never use your companies again for our projects. Enjoy using second rate material. Pearls before swine and all that jazz.
This thread could have been so much better. It isn't playing up to its potential.
Architecture has nothing to do with it's performance. The fact is the ps4 is poorly designed. First it has an 8 core cpu but only running at 1.6GHz the only thing that's good for is multitasking and the graphics card has the same power as a AMD 7850 (which is a low end card) which is not very powerful at all. 8GB ram really won't make a big performance boost considering games performance is based off of how powerful your GPU is than your CPU and lastly RAM. RAM has very little to do with game performance. Right now your avg gaming PC has 4-8 core CPU's running at 4+GHz, 8+ GB ram and graphic card's many times more powerful than what the PS4 has. Also the PS4 has no SSD which is a huge mistake considering SSD makes huge differences in performance.
The only difference an SSD will make over an HDD is that load times may be .5 sec shorter. The price/performance ratio on SSD's right now are just not realistic, especially for a mass produced console where the majority of the content is going to be on the hard drive (or possibly cloud). Everything else you said I agree with 100%.
Also,
Let's just keep feeding this guy, ok?
The PC has overhead which will make it slower than the Playstation 4. Also, the 7850 is a mid-range card not a low end card and is pretty powerful and the Playstation 4 is faster than the 7850. The CPU is stated to actually be faster than 1.6 GHz but December is pretty far and since Kabini and Temash aren't even out I highly doubt 1.6 GHz is the final specification.
To an avg gaming computer overhead does nothing to performance, since the computer has more then enough resources. And to the gaming community a 7850 is low end, even my 6970 has better performance than that card. And I have only heard the CPU to be 1.6GHz I doubt there going to raise it much more unless there planing on replacing it with something better.
