    It just hit me

Ok I was thinking once we get the game they said we have to download it to hard drive right well xbox and ps3 beta will be almost before the release I think the reason beta is so close to the release us so once ppl get the game they won't fill the server with downloads because we would already have the game downloaded to the hard drive I'm I right or wrong.

That sounds like a good possible option.

Likely not, as when the beta does begin and people will download the game, it will most likely not be a full game download, but just a 'beta' version of the game.

Well not to be mean, but I think you are incorrect. The servers will not be flooded by downloading, that's xbox's/psn servers which have handled a lot more then that. And people with PS3's and Xbox's (not sure if same for PS3) will probably purchase the physical copy, and when they say that it must run from the hard drive, they mean that you have to install the game to your hard drive which doesnt require the internet. Yes there is a day one patch, but I'm assuming that will also be through xbox's/psn's official servers. The servers may overload due to the amount of actual people playing the game, since they host the servers that people will connect to each time they play.

For the Offical Release you have to install the game to the HD in your console and then there is a day 1 patch, previous statements say this should be small in size (less than 500 MB) so shouldn't create a large delay.

If the Beta client downloaded to console is the entire game, this is said on each pre-order site to be approximately 10 GBs, that is a lot of data to download at once on a console. You'll be waiting a while... most likely the Beta Client will be a 1 to 2 GB version that allows game play up to a certain event in the game like a specific cut scene, mission intro, or some such. So a limited demo/play test client.

No, because like ruffryder pointed out, we'll download it off the psn/xbl servers... where the game's data will be found, and from which the patches are likely to come if they aren't hotfixes.

And we won't download 'half the game' for a beta... we'll have a 'beta' version which will become obsolete compared to the main game. Most beta on consoles will have you redownload the real game once the beta (and its client ) is done with and removed from their stores.

    "Remember Reach."
Now Reach was open beta and millions were wanting to play at once. The amount of people who pre-ordered Defiance and will actually want to play the beta the day it comes can't be nearly as many as Reach.

The Defiance servers will be fine.
