Anyways I don't like the idea of people running around with melee weapons as this is a third person shooter, not a third person melee. The expression "bringing a knife to gun fight" comes to mind also...

Plus, the term laser blade is misleading. Laser was commonly used because of a lack of understanding in authors of old sci fi. The common term now is hard light or solid state energy.
I think he is talking about like the blade that the Dark Mater guys use, plus what Datak uses on the show a few times.
Yes please, make it when you melee you pull out the sword/knive for a second, even when the sword is somehow attached to the gun you wielding it would be way cooler then atm.
They have the blades in the show, it was on last episode, so why not the game? I thought it was cool to see the knife turn to sword. Go for all melee attack, of course that is hard when the enemy is high but who doesnt like a challenge or keep a fire arm as a secondary weapon?

I don't think you know how lasers work.
With as many bonuses as I seem to see for dealing additional melee damage with buttstrokes from firearms, it would make sense to have melee weapons of some sort. Or a bayonet mod! :P
Considering some of the EGO powers available, I think melee weapons would be an absolutely viable option.
Turn invisible, slash someone in half with a melee weapon. Alternatively have a kick *** bayonet!
