Why people insist its other way?
They have no clue - and never bought any inventory from shop - inventory upgrades from:
Arkfall codes: +2 and +4
Digital Deluxe version: +5
Steam prepurchase +5x2=10
Are all account bound, so you can claim it on all your chars.
So with all possible upgrades new char start with 33 slots, then you are forced to buy more again << one more reason to play as one char only, and one more reason to not reroll for new DLC race
Btw i have 2 chars and right now 101 slots on my main, only 28 on alt -with all inventory claims taken

was sort of obviouse, i got past turorial and my alt has 12 slots
why need more that 1 character anyway?
I didn't need one but I kept one at the same level and story wise as my wife for when she gets on with me like we do with Borderlands and also because they said you will get new races to play in DLCs so maybe they made a cooler looking alien I would want to play?
I recommend Trion look into Planetside 2's alternative character synergy system. In PLS2, each character can gain bonus xps for all characters in the same account, and other synergy items. Pretty neat if Defiance could have something similar to it, at least bring me the hope to play new races in DLCs.
In DCUO and FFXI (the only other two MMO's I played) buying things like extra inventory was account wide, I just assumed this was the same but I got what I deserved for assuming lol. I won't be buying anymore.

Btw there is also a tip for saving some space - when you recive a new loadout after first 2 (2 is enough) - never,ever put any items in there - that way you saving space - cos something is wrong and you just cant put same weapon, shield or granades in diffrent loadouts - and they eat space fast

I usually play heavy crafter/gatherer oriented chars and collect/loot/steal everything i can find
In Defiance i still want to check tons of guns i never try, need to carry some backups to level up weapon skills and tons of mods.
i seriously look for some bank space in Defiance, or at lest puting mods into diffrent "no space" bag cos way its it right now its bit ridiculous
I can think of two reasons someone may want an alt:
1. They may be role players and want to have a human and an alien character.
2. (This one applies to me) They may have a friend that just purchased Defiance and wanted to play through the missions with that friend.
I am sure there are a few more reasons as well.
