Agreed! Definitely not necessary from what we've seen so far, but it is a lot of fun.

1.) Mr. Miyagi (terrible acting & dialog makes him cringe worthy)
2.) UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jone's 90lb younger brother (looks like he's never been in front of a camera before)
    3.) The emo alien

I hope these three die off.

Nolan, Irisa, hooker lady and the mayor are awesome though.
I actually don't know who you're talking about in any of those three. LOL. I probably don't disagree with you (some actors were better than others) but I'm not sure which were which. Is emo alien Tarr's son? Not sure I want them to die off... but some of the performances will hopefully improve as the show goes on.

I'm referring to Tarr's son, the black deputy and the father of the kid that got shot by the alien assistant.

Nah, those 3 were fine. Their acting was perfect for their characters.

The acting of the guy playing the old man was nicely done. He really tries to be the silent tough guy dad but let's his emotions get the better of him.

The deputies assistant is young and inexperienced, not really comfortable in his role as the new (temporary) role of deputy).

Alec tarr, acts pretty much like you'd expect from an emo teenager that wants to be the tough guy in front of his friends. But he's got a soft spot even though he seems rather arrogant (much like his father). Besides he is casthitian, who often consider themselves as better than other races (especially humans).

I'm thinking, castithians seem to have a patriarchal society but it really seems that it's the women that hold the true power.

I liked Tarr's son. He's a snot-nosed punk and he played the character well. I like how he played the reaction to Luke's death. I could see some potential there. The whole thing with Alac (that's his name) romancing Christie McCawley was one of the weaker parts for me. I enjoyed some scenes, but I wasn't sure I was feeling the chemistry there yet. I actually think that whole subplot with the Tarr's scheming to take the mine could have been pulled out and come to a head later after we'd seen Christie and Alac together more.

I said it before, but I found the McCawley's as a whole a bit bland at the moment, and I think that's partly because they seem so nice and upstanding. Hopefully we'll get to see more of that family dynamic and it'll make them more interesting. My favorite part of their scenes was Bertie, their housemaid or whatever she is. I don't disagree about the dad. I thought his comic timing was pretty good in sparring with Datak, but when he had to get angry with Quentin to tell him what he knew about Luke's death, I wasn't too convinced.

As for the deputy, I really liked him. I thought he had one of the better lines of the show ("What is wrong with you?") and I liked the friendship that seemed to be forming between him and Irisa.

    Sigh.

And once again, the uk gets gipped.

I own netflix, i looked into hulu and amazon prime. All of them wont be carrying defiance.

Syfy has it but thats not available in my area at all, and i cant find any way to get it either.

Anybody want to help me out here? :/

I am not interested in piracy. I just want to watch defiance, its sickening that american versions of netflix and so on have so much more to them and extras for less price than the uk.

My life for a syfy thing like the bbciplayer!

Honestly, I think it's more Stahma's personality/ambition than it being a Castithian thing. If you noticed, she also still presented it very passively. Almost a suggestion rather than a mandate.

you have no legal way of watching it, there are some grey areas, you could try using a US vpn to watch it from the syfy website

Is the UK Syfy site not going to have full episodes online too? It seems like it might with other shows?

You could setup a US itunes account and buy the series with a US gift card. You'll be able to watch the series in the UK that way
