What bothers me is how so many people think that BETA testing is for the players. Beta testing is one of the best ways for developers to have people that aren't hired by the company to find bugs and errors by having larger amounts of people playing the game before release and hopefully having an honest enough community to report these bugs and helping development. Having that said when one beta is longer than another it's generally because one area needs more work than another. The PS3 probably has a different way that they have to configure the servers in order to let them connect to the trion servers. Look at how rough DC: online was when they first released it. It was laggy and almost impossible to play (or at least my own experience was that way). Xbox probably only gets a short beta time since it is relate-able to how a pc connects and they need more servers running for the ps3, short hand they could have easily just not have had the beta at all. If that's not the case microsoft probably had a hand in it and limited to how much time a "free" beta since their going to have massive amounts of people download the game on their servers slowing it down for everything else on the marketplace. PC users are generally the ones who commit to finding bugs, now this isn't saying that pc users are better than any other user, It's just they have the easiest access to reporting a bug than any other system. Enjoy the beta, report some bugs, and we all will have a blast coming April 2nd with a clean game!

Its very understandable why the PS3 is longer. It may have alot more bugs than the Xbox 360 version. And with the PC Beta, they may have been able to quash Xbox Bugs of the same kind. BUT I am worried. I preordered the Xbox 360 Gamestop Exclusive version for Xbox 360 and being only able to test for a day and a half roughly is making my instincts say to run. That time period isnt enough to find or test ANYTHING. I guarantee you there will be problems getting connected, downloading, ect. And on the weekday? Thats just plain stupid planning on their part, I would of through Trion Worlds would of had some common sense on this. I have a feeling its being a rush job to get it out with the show so I may cancel and save myself 150 dollars because my guts telling me to be very cautious on this.

There will most likely be problems, and that's why you're doing the beta.. so they can find them out. You're not paying a cent for the beta at all, you just have early access as a gift for those who pre-orders... you'll still have all the goodies that came with it in the first place.

I'm glad I get the opportunity to try this game out, really looking forward to it. However, as a gamer I understand this isn't a time for me to have a Vip or early access to this game. It's a time for the Dev. team to correct as much bugs as possible before the game is released. As a gamer I look at xbox having a 2 day access is a good thing, where as PS3 needs a lot more.... looks like it needs more attention and work. I just sit back and continue to read the bickering on my lunch breaks.

When one of the listed 'perks' for pre-ordering is Beta access and they even send out an announcement encouraging people to pre-order in order to have Beta access, what exactly are people supposed to think?

The whole "Beta is for finding bugs" thing went out the door a long time ago. Beta is a marketing tool, and if it wasn't it wouldn't be being used as an inducement to put down cold, hard cash.

Whoops, sorry about that... gotten so used to people freaking out over the "shorter beta" I wasn't thinking and thought you were countering what I said. But now that I think about it, yeah, you're right. Guess it didn't help I played both Skyrim and Fallouts first on PC.

Well either it's a real Beta where they want to stress test and look for missed bugs, or it's a Demo like most so-called demos these days. Either way the fact that Xbox users get roughly 100 hours less is troublesome. If it's a Beta the Xbox is getting less testing. If it's a Demo Xbox players are getting a lot less playtime. As an Xbox owner it doesn't leave feeling confident about the game.

And if I were a PS3 owner I wouldn't be feeling good either. Xbox owners getting the short end of the stick may mean the PS3 has more bugs, is less ready or polished which requires more Beta time. And if it is a Demo it would mean PS3 is getting more play time because of a giant deficit in pre-orders. So the MMO on that console will be a ghost town.

However you slice it the huge imbalance in play time creates doubts. We don't want doubts. I think we'd all love to hear an explanation.

No, there's a difference. Without a pre-order every person signed up has a RANDOM chance of being selected for beta. You could get beta access WITHOUT a pre-order. Pre-purchase, however, as a kudos, just gives a person a guaranteed beta access code.
