You can't have it both ways though. If people are implying that the PS3 simply needs more beta testing time then why is the PC still getting extended beta too. Surely that's been tested out the yang by now!

When one of the listed 'perks' for pre-ordering is Beta access and they even send out an announcement encouraging people to pre-order in order to have Beta access, what exactly are people supposed to think?

The whole "Beta is for finding bugs" thing went out the door a long time ago. Beta is a marketing tool, and if it wasn't it wouldn't be being used as an inducement to put down cold, hard cash.

It is both. But you don't pay for 'early access to the game' you pay for the proper physical ( data ) goodies that come with the pre order. The Beta entry is just an 'added' incentive and a way to make sure they can get a decent player base if at least to test out the strength of their servers on a smaller scale.

A beta still serves its purpose as testing out bugs, and the devs will always have the final say in how they allocate time and resources to each beta phase as they are the ones working on the game while continuously receiving feedback from the testers who actually send in reports.

This just means that its pretty much ready on the Xbox. This is good news!! We still get 48 hrs to test the game, so don't complain, the game releases like a week after beta. Patience, young ones. =D

Yeah defentily a fail for the whole defiance team, nice way to reward all your loyal xbox pre-orderers which im sure crushes ps3 pre-orders. If its designed to be a stress test than just call it that and i won't have a problem with it. Seems like that pretty much what it is judging by the fact that its the weekend before the real release. Guess we will find out how good the servers are huh

As I've stated numerous times...

Consoles = specific hardware configuration.

PC = Varying setup from rig to rig. Operating system version, processor, video card, amount of memory, driver issues, etc... all issues that aren't a problem on console.

There will most likely be problems, and that's why you're doing the beta.. so they can find them out. You're not paying a cent for the beta at all, you just have early access as a gift for those who pre-orders... you'll still have all the goodies that came with it in the first place.

I'm pretty sure you aren't on the same page, he's saying he's worried that he shouldn't have have pre-ordered at all because he feels as though (if there are major bugs the devs didn't catch) they won't get fixed by release date. A BETA is for US to find problems, not the devs. I don't even understand what you're responding to on that last half of your paragraph. Pretty sure he's not questioning the validity of pre-order items.

I really do think that the 360 is getting less time because it is ready to go. It's barely getting less time than PC actually.

360 and PC are very similar to develop for. Heck, the PC version supports the 360 controller so they can test controls on the PC. I would guess 360 is easier even than PC because it has a set spec set vs. a PC which has different specs to accomidate for.

All in all, wish I could play more, but I take this as good news for 360 users. My only concern is that given the time and days it won't really get stressed enough to ensure the servers can handle the load of release.

I find it hilarious how many people I keep seeing assuming the pre-orders on 360 just have to be more than any other system. Why would that be logically? PC has done MMOs longer than any other system, and PS3 are the more MMO-friendly console. To date, 360 hasn't really supported any MMO... so I really don't see where that "assumed" logic might stem from. oO

Actually, it is for the devs to find problems. Even while "US" (we) find problems, we SHOULD BE reporting them to the DEVS so that they can FIX them.

Not all of my post may be addressed to one person in particular.. And if such a timeline has been set by the Trion people, its because they feel that it is adequate time needed to finish up on finding details. You'd be surprised on just how many things you can find in a very short while.
