And you get beta access. I don't see the problem. Yeah, it would be fun to play more, but we got what we were told, just not what people wanted.

You are taking his words out of context. The original post implied that this was a legit closed BETA test when it's not. He stated that it is "not a privilege" when that's exactly what it has become due to pre-orders.

But the point you keep trying to represent is wrong... i mean heck, you already said we werent entitled to beta access. You know what happens when a company advertises something, people spend money for that reason, and then the company doesn't deliver? They get sued for fraud, and they lose. Then you seem to think people are only mad because it's a shorter test, which is only a small portion of the vocal argument so far. The issue is even more so timing. No one ever releases a beta only on a mondyay and tuesday, it's completely moronic, even for THEIR reasons.

You say it's all about finding bugs, and testing the servers for trion, and has NOTHING to do with the players who were promised access if they spent money. Whatever, i'll work with that. So, why did trion pick the worse possible time ever to stress test it? Test during the weekend would have produced tens of thousands of increased man hours. That's tens of thousands of extra hours looking for bugs, and having a population online that is actually capable of putting stress on the servers. Guess what, that isn't gonna happen on a monday or tuesday.

And for the record, it is MUCH less of a stress test and testing beta than a demo. If it was a stress test to test servers and "find bugs" it's still pretty pathetic. An ever expanding MMO, but hey we can tell them about the bugs that happen in about 3 hours worth of a thousands of hours game! And that's not even based on time, that's based on the fact that almost all of the game is closed off.

I do agree with the fact that the days they chose are the worst possible, I just don't understand what everyone was expecting? It's a beta not a demo, if you were expecting a large amount of time to play then you reserved for the wrong reasons. The betas there to tweak the final build, attract people, and just see how a server plays out with players inside. It's not really there for the consumer, even when your accepted into it. I do think they should atleast roll it back to the weekend before the 25th though.

I'm going to be playing on EU servers, aren't I (from NZ, PS3)... Why do they persist with these ridiculous zones? I'm pretty much going to lag playing with anyone, why make it worse?

Regardless it's still plenty of time considering the game comes out a week after beta end's.

Stop defending this tactic with fanboyism. The test is held on a Monday and Tuesday where a majority of people work and go to school. Are you some kind of bum to society that you mean to tell me you do not work or go to school or have a family to attend to? It's nowhere near enough time and Defiance will most likely suffer for it in the end on the 360 platform. This isn't enough time for me to share with my friends how awesome and wonderful the world of Defiance is. No one wants to buy another game I recommend after what happened with Aliens. And I feel terrible about that because Gearbox showed me a product that looked entirely different than what they actually sold me. That's why I filed a complaint with the BBB to Gearbox in regards to false advertisement. Not saying that this is the case with Defiance but the time slot for the 360 is not enough time for anyone to even get a feel for if they like the game or not.

isn't sledge the head PR guy for the forums? If i'm wrong ignore this next part. I really hope i'm wrong, because if I am right it's just sad. If he is the head PR for the forums, why on earth would a company make a decision to get this much negative press, and then NOT tell the head of PR for the forums why? Either the company is lying, or sledge is lying. Either way the players are being lied too, what's the excuse for that?

Of course if I'm wrong about what sledge is, than that is all pure speculation, all though I'd still say it's accurate if I had to bet.

Hey TRION, here's what you need to do:

1. Make the full release version of Defiance digitally available for all platforms RIGHT NOW.

2. Ignore all the first party rules and make it entirely cross platform.

3. Add a special PvP server fashioned after Planetside 2, providing a perpetual and persistent battle over territory, with PS3, XBox 360 and PC as the three warring factions.

Then everyone can play immediately, and all the platform war junkies can have their fix without tracking mud in all over the forums.

I'm absolutely certain that this will make everyone completely happy forever, and no one will complain about anything ever again.

No one is turning this into a console war. There is no reason that all 3 platforms should not experience the same amount of time and treatment as each other. If the beta is < 37 hours then all 3 betas should be < 37 hours. If a beta is 6 days then the beta should be 6 days on all 3 platforms.
