I mean, considering the co-op stuff is limited to 4 people. BORING! If that number is not bumped up to at least 6 or more I will be upset. Why is 4 the standard co-op number? Get over the number 4! The first developer that makes a co-op game that support more than 4 player co-op is going to win big.

Basically, I've described this game to my friends as a blend between Mass Effect and Red Dead, and they're all like What? But it makes perfect sense, you essentially have this RDR free roam that supports up to 1,000 players. But it's like Mass Effect in that there are co-op things you can do, it's a science fiction game. I've sometimes compared to BLands like I mentioned earlier.

But without a longer beta period, I don't think I can sell my friends on the product. If I can't sell my friends on the product I will be the only one playing it. Even though I will be 1 of 1,000 other players I won't have the shared experience with my friends that I was hoping to generate by getting them to play the beta with me for a few days. Having them being able to get early exposure to emergent gameplay may have got them to order a copy for themselves. I just don't know who was in charge of organizing this event but it's proving to be their last opportunity.
I went with "RDR meets borderlands but bigger",and not just friends but other gaming forums aswell because i really want to see this game grow on 360.And i do feel like i wasted my time and i probably now look like a **** to all the people i told to check out the beta.
    Happy Hunting!

PC (nor any system) is actually getting "shorted". Everybody seems to think "closed beta" equates to "early VIP access"; it doesn't. PC has already had 2 other PC-only beta, simply because PC rigs have varying hardware setups (whereas consoles do not, each console has one standard configuration). In "closed betas", and time frames for beta are in place to find bugs, glitches, weak spots, compromises, exploits, etc. It's not a "fun stroll through the wilderness", it's not a "great, my friend's here, let's go dance in the NPC camp and goof around"... it's pretty much stress-testing and actually HOPING things will break so they can be fixed for the official launch.

I'm not attempting to flame you, just bring logic/sense to the *whole* argument from/by everybody. Most games that release on console don't even have beta, they usually just have demos. If there wasn't need of stress-testing, etc, there probably wouldn't even be betas... and if PCs all had the same exact hardware configuration and everything ran perfect, they probably wouldn't have a beta either. "Closed Betas" are just a small stretch up from Alpha... their main intention is to help the developers dot the I's and cross the T's... not all too much more. It's not like anybody's getting more of a head start over anybody else... where this is a closed-beta, EVERYBODY's data will be wiped before official launch.

Not sure what you're getting at, sounds like a specific instance of a differant game. The way I understand Trion's way of defining "open" and "closed" betas is by how they outline it, not by traditional marketting standards and how others think it should be. SO I take it when they say "closed beta" they mean it's a "closed beta" regardless of what anyone else thinks.

Your example sounds like a closed beta to an expansion. And that basically is up to the company running the show. Hope this helps, I dont wanna confuse anyone.

I alpha and beta tested Hawken longer than what the "Mission Betas" have offered to those who participated in those. The only real way to test Defiance was to be an "alpha" tester. If they are still calling them alpha testers then my god am I scared for this game. They're are just closed beta testers.
