Defiance: Advanced Mission Beta 3 Details

In a good development cycle, beta code is a stable version of the alpha code, but typically that means they say "We need to buckle down and fine-tune this stuff and eliminate the bugs and stop working on NEW code." Personally, I'm always making alpha code that, since I'm the sole developer on my project, is only ever seen or used by me. I release beta code to QA for testing purposes and when we get all the changes we want, we make a final release.

In the case of the stream today, it was alpha which means that will not be in the beta we get access to next week. If they developed properly, major bugs would be removed before a beta was released. Any of the bugs we saw in the alpha stream SHOULD be created by tweaks to the beta we have access to. That admittedly may not be the case, but it should be in a good development environment.

Exactly. Unfortunately by only allowing 37 hours to test the beta build for the 360, there is limited opportunity to catch any bugs prior to going final. This is compounded by the fact that the beta occurs on a Monday and Tuesday (limited player availability) just one week prior to release (limited time to test/apply fixes). The end result is that the first few weeks of the 360 version will likely be the formal beta test. I would love to believe that the launch will be smooth but we both know that there is no such thing as completely bug-free code.

Perfectly civil. A normal schedule has someone working or schooling during the week. I did not say something was wrong with having a different schedule only that it was not normal. calling someone a brat or entitle baby is an obvious insult. Saying someone has an odd schedule when they infact do is not meant to be derogatory but just a statement of fact.

Ummm, just to make a point of order, calling anything "not normal" simply because it doesn't fit ones view/perception, doesn't make it factual, and can also be construed by some as obvious insult. I can think of many professions that have varying/dynamic shifts, not to mention "on call", that are more "normal" than your "normal" employment (aka: military, fire-fighters/rescue, law enforcement, etc).

That'd be like my saying, I don't perceive Joe Shmoe over there to be "normal" by MY standards/definition, there for it's a fact they are NOT normal... no, I just perceive them as not normal. Normal is a very "thin" definition anyways.

hell at this rate there wont be nobody playing on xbox when release day does happen i will be a loner running the roads i guess thats what they wanted less people to play so the servers wont fell lol

True, but luckily PC and 360 are at the very least similar to develop for so they may have been able to squash a lot of the bugs based on what they learned from the PC betas and alphas.

It may end up that the 360 launch is a SimCity level disaster, but until then, I have faith that Trion knows what they're doing.

You did not pay for beta. You technically haven't even paid for the GAME yet. You get upset about the "brat nonsense," but when you say stuff like this it makes you look like a brat.

The $60 entrance fee is for the game. The pre-order bonus goodies and beta access are GIFTS. It's like complaining about getting free music on your iPhone for the same price as an iPhone without the music.

Except if the contract included free music and you did not receive any then it becomes false advertisement as it was sold to you as a package. In this case Trion is providing beta access. Unfortunately the beta is hardly equal between platforms; this is also known as preferential treatment.

I think that the only reason this thread hasn't been locked is because Sledge is afriad it'll cause a whole wave of new threads. That said, this thread totally needs to be locked. This is a serious nightmare flamewar. Good points have been made for both sides... like 15 pages ago. Now this has devolved in to over-emotional personal attacks. Please, someone with the power, lock this thread. If it's only being kept alive in case of new info (like the giving xbox users access to pc beta thing), just make a new thread to announce any changes later. This needs to stop.
