It's a closed beta because you need a code to access it. Just because there are tens of thousands of codes out there doesn't mean that it isn't a closed beta.

An open beta is when something can be accessed and played without having to use a special access code.

No there not but its good policy to answer your costumers question whenever possible especially when its part of a grievance you have with them. They can go right on offering worthless remedies and highly vague explanations right till the thing launches but it will only hurt Xbox sales and by extension the whole game. You guys should be standing WITH the xbox players for the good of the game not against them. When theres no tv show and the game is all but dead in 2 years this kind of thing will be a big part of why.

It will not, and hardly by any large margin. Because people who want to play the game are probably smarter then folks like you. There's still going to be plenty of people playing on beta.. and when the game launches. Many people who canceled their pre-order over silly reasons will regret it.

They'll have to get a key to be able to play, or be invited. It has been the same for all 3 betas. It does not matter if there is a lot of keys. They simply didn't give out as many as they thought they would.

Its says enough, it says for one that we should be understanding that its not something they can freely talk about. Which means its probably because they can't talk against any party involved if its due to any of them. Otherwise if it were just 'welp we screwed up' they would likely freely point out what the problem is. especially when they're willing to do some patchwork for it.

Exactly, what's even funnier is they even mention the keys being given away... if they'd check, the places giving those keys even call it, and I quote: "Defiance Closed Beta Key Giveaway". I guess he knows more than the people giving him the key... must be awesome to completely understand and comprehend such secrets of the universe. /sarcasm

The testers report any bugs that they find, and sometimes suggest additional features they think should be available in the final version.
Open betas serve the dual purpose of demonstrating a product to potential consumers, and testing among an extremely wide user base likely to bring to light obscure errors that a much smaller testing team might not find.

For any of you still ineterested in harping on how this is not an open beta or not partially about an early DEMO. You can argue with webster I have shot it down enough.

It sure is, which is why I'm sure if you were a customer, you might be able to get a better answer, but you're not a customer, since you've yet to make a purchase.

You've just said their remedy is worthless. It's PC beta access. If PC beta access is worthless, isn't xbox beta access worthless as well, by proxy?

You seem to be the only one who is really making an issue of this, so I really doubt this will be a major thing, but further, what do you propose as an acceptable remedy, if extending the xbox beta access period is entirely not possible due to Microsoft's suspected refusal to allow it?

Simple facts are, Ctrain has ZERO grounds to complain. They got a FREE pc beta key and are screaming at the top of their lungs trying to discredit, devalue, and defamate Trion (over short xbox beta time while they are on PC [they saw others complaining and thought they could get attention too] and pre-order that they haven't even purchased)... when the simple fact is, they themselves don't even qualify for any of the things they continually cry about. It's like they think there's a pending class-action lawsuit in place. Ctrain is a FRAUD!

wrong. An open beta would be available to any and all. A closed beta requires an invite to be in said event.
