Occam's razor guy, why you'd assume they would deliberately hurt their player base, when they publicly state it's not under their control, is beyond me. The simple solution is Microsoft says "no you can't run your unfinished game on our network, we don't want any problems with people who pay us".

So you instead assume MS is dilberately hurting there own player base? Newsflash defiance players ARE xbox players and screwing them makes as little sense for MS as it does for Trion. Besides if they have such grave concerns about letting them run it now then what do you think they will do for release? The game won't change much if at all on a few weeks. Esp if they can't test it over live.

Edit. Actually the stated it was not entirely in there control. Which suggests they had at least SOME control and are choosing not to exercise it.

I've been kept quite busy feeding trolls for the last 4 hours. Dumb I know which is why they're now on true ignore. Until someone quotes them I won't even see anything they have to say. Its actually alot like the mods came in and cleaned things out. Real quiet all of a sudden.

for regular patches? that's good then, it'd be rough if the couldn't fix and rebalance on a regular basis, as is needed in an MMO

all the data is stored server side. Mass Effect 3 got balance changes every week up until mid January when they switched to every other week. big patches and bug fixes will have to go through ms certification though

silliness to brighten your mood aside dude. I really don't understand why you're arguing. I mean from my experience when people try so hard to throw dirt on a company or game I feel as though they are already determined to not play or support it in any way. Yet they always try and scare others away from it with their arguments.
I don't mean to assume, but your comments actually make an Xbox player like me, my clan, and others think you need to calm down a bit.
Believe me if it was this serious we would be right there beside you, but we're not. Now you can call us sheep to Trion or Defiance, or that we're cowards who don't want to take a stand and frankly I don't care.

So if this is not serious for you thats your opinion. BUT if they start charging for stuff thats free on the other consoles(like they do with live) Then will that do it for you? I mean the question is how far do they have to favor other ports of the game before you do get pissed? I prefer to stop the nonsense before it progresses by letting them know in no uncertain terms I won't stand for it. I would like to say WE but I guess some plan to roll over and accept eternal servitude to there pc and ps3 overlords.

do the math. how many xbox players are there? how many xbox players would be in the beta? They would be hurting their player base a lot more if they allowed "untested software" to disrupt the thousands of other players on their network who aren't playing Defiance. It's just like you saying you speak for SOME xbox users and not all, Microsoft is protecting the majority, because as good as Defiance is, there are more people playing CoD.

It likely isn't grave concerns, it's lawyers and accountants and marketing strategists. The probably have it in their contracts somewhere, a clause dealing directly with beta software, and their policies. They're Microsoft, they don't have to bend over backwards for Trion - who is fulfilling their contractual obligations with both Microsoft and their customers.

You're right, they did say not entirely, perhaps M$ wants compensation for allowing beta software to be run, as in, leasing specific servers and bandwidth to handle it at an extremely high cost. Losing a few preorders, compared to 100k to lease the servers would seem acceptable losses, IF it were the case, which I can't say if it is.

Since you haven't played the game I'll cut you a little slack, but if you were to play it you would know that it feels like they built it FOR 360. It's a console style menu, the buttons are (almost) perfectly set up for 360 controllers, and to me it just has a very console feel compared to a PC shooter.

The 360 is essentially a PC with consistent specs so I do not see why any PC fixes wouldn't transfer directly over. If it's not direct, it's certainly very easy.

The company is not favoring PC and PS3 over XBOX. M$ has stricter assurance guidelines, this is one of the reasons they charge a premium on their Live connectivity. This strict security is also quite possibly why one of these companies has had security breeches, while another, has not.

Cause the 360 beta will be a ghost town? Cause preoders are getting canceled due to a beta? Its been setup to fail just by the days of the week its scheduled for. It can't possible achieve a high load under those conditions.

On the other point Trion needs to pony up SOME explanation beyond the one given. If it really is MS' fault it needs to be on them so I can promptly go to there forums instead and not waste my time here if they really can't do anything.

Yeah thats what MS wants you to think. In reality its all money grubbing. Its no worse then some company figuring out a way to charge you to use your pc online. Pc has gotten on just fine without a paid service for online games so why can't XBOX? Simple. m$ is greedy and saw a chance for more cash.
