same here; ill get flamed for this , but i even found it better then the almighty Firefly...
    just compare both first episodes.
i liked each character; although some are cliques ( cliques i love in scify); you can tell that there is a story and motivations behind their actions and personalities.
has the best elements of my fav scify series toegether, also it set the setting really well for what is to come.

what i didnt like is that we found out to quickly who is the "villain".

    I enjoyed the show.

I really hope the BUILT IN SPOILERS crap was a first episode thing only. Seriously, the cliffhanger before the commercial followed immediately by "just so you don't have to wait, here's what is going to happen" stuff was pissing me off.

I'm finding it a bit cheesy and poorly acted. I'm gonna give it a chance though.

I just watched most of it. I got most of the way through and gave up. I found it excessively boring and the acting wasn't that great either. I may attempt to finish it and continue on with the second episode.

I watch a lot of crap on TV, especially sci-fi, normally i like crap but this fell short of my expectations.

thoroughly enjoyed it, infact I watched it twice (Was on at 7pm and 10pm for me for some reason) both times I really liked it.

Its got the perfect amount of Scify cheese and cliche. (IE cheese effects and acting)

overall I got a kind of Lord of The Rings meets Star Wars with some Star Trek thrown in thing off of it

I liked it. I feel SyFy has partially redeemed themselves for assorted past sins.

But WTF was with the music? Was I watching Defiance or BSG / Caprica?

I like McCreary's work. I think the scoring BSG and Caprica was brilliant. Really set the mood. McCreary is very talented.

But I associate those musical elements which he has re-used in Defiance with the other franchise. Hearing them while watching Defiance was offputting.

I want that to end. Please. I don't care if it's his own work he's ripping off or even if he's doing it at the request of the producers. It has to stop.
