IIRC T3 boxes are the best, they are ~1/3 the cost but you only get 1 less item and the % drops are not that much lower than T4.

I received a orange shotgun at EGO 123. Since then, nothing I'm at 384 now.
got the first around 450 ego the 2nd around 600 ego and the last at 914 ego.

lol.. I'm at 1100 and something EGO, all I get is T3's and T4's... still waiting on my first orange, at this point.. I may buy one off someone.. or pay them to equip a set, just to get the pursuit step done. Cause frankly, I find the loot system annoying. Kinda reminds me of Mass Effect 3...
I was thinking the same thing yesterday, i'm at 990 and no orange yet.
I played Mass Effect 3 MP a lot (it was strangely addictive for basically just a horde mode), and never maxed out my UR. In the end, even platinum became somewhat easy (even more so with the new classes from the last dlc), so with no week end event anymore and all banners unlocked, I just gave up.
It's gotta be luck, the first t4 box I opened gave me a orange bolt action sniper rifle.
Keep sleeping on pistols. It's all about precision aiming. You should see the numbers I get from shots to the head. o.Otier 4 lock box it is then. hope i dont get an orange pistol...... they would hurt more if i threw it at the enemy lol
