So after working all your sniper skills. Anybody else notice this?

I just finished all my sniper skills(bolt/semi) to near max I decided to try some different weapons as my primary just to have some fun and do something different for a time. I'm a little disappointed to say so but after all those rounds down range sniping and picking up new weapons which I have little experience with I'm clearing camps faster lol. @shrugs@ I think an awareness/detection system would really have been nice. Distance, barrel, gear worn etc could add to enemy detection so entire camps would not all 100% instantly aggro you while sniping? Anyhow, just sharing that. I've always loved sniping and it was a bit disheartening to find with all the time in I could do things faster using even pistols etc lol.

You already get two, sometimes three shots before targets react if you're out far enough. Even then they're likely far enough away to not be able to accurately hit you, giving you even more time to take them out.

Compared to most titles I've played, that's a world of difference. Being able to silently take out an entire camp without fear would be absurd from a balance perspective.

Ive been able to take out half of the pre spawned enemies before with a sniper before any of them aggro. You just have to make sure you take them out systematically and from far enough away.

As long as I score head shots and pick alone targets or in group of 2 I manage to clear most of the camps before someone starts to charge my position. Problem starts when I miss and hit some one in torso then all the **** comes down

I love using a sniper rifle against Darkmatter because you can counter-snipe all the snipers before they even start and clear whole camps of them without fear. Even the Bulwarks are a joke when you snipe them in the pods and they shut down.

I've found there is a form of detection system in the game as sometimes I'll agro a group by sniping one and sometimes not.

I definitely seem to get away with picking people off one by one more by using cloak before firing, but even that doesn't work 100% to avoid detection.

Still, I definitely disagree that you can kill faster with a pistol - that hasn't been my experience at all. But I'm pretty good at headshots and have all the perks to make them hit really REALLY hard (not to mention finding green guns on a vendor with the bonus stat being MORE crit damage).

haha, well ok then. I am sorta getting an undertone from you all that it's a @learn to play@ thing. I have 19 skill in both semi and bolt action meaning I likely have well in excess of 12K kills. Does this mean anything? Yes actually. I think Anybody no matter how bad they start will be pretty decent by the end of so many rounds down range. I head shot all the time and from max distance. They can and still will aggro you depending on their proximity to each other and weather you kill them in one shot(or so I've found) Nowhere did I state they suck, I simply mentioned that with weapons I have so little skill with I seemed able clear camps as quickly.

It likely does not help much that my favorite sniper rifle I modded with a lvl 3 scope. I don't know if it's observer error(although I have read it ruins your accuracy) but it really does seem I miss things far more than before @shrugs@

@Compared to most titles I've played, that's a world of difference. Being able to silently take out an entire camp without fear would be absurd from a balance perspective.@ Yes, If I was asking for this it would be absurd :P It's also absurd that entire camps Can, not always, but can know exactly where you are instantly. My point was stealth/sniping etc could have been done in such a way as to be far more realistic and yet still fun and not over the top.

@Still, I definitely disagree that you can kill faster with a pistol - that hasn't been my experience at all. But I'm pretty good at headshots and have all the perks to make them hit really REALLY hard (not to mention finding green guns on a vendor with the bonus stat being MORE crit damage). @ I think everybody that goes hardcore sniping, and rather obviously I did having near 20/max in both types, takes those perks. It hits wonderfully hard, for sure. No complaints. Have you by chance used a properly modded Wolfhound pistol though? Popping fast 1.6K crits as fast as you can pull the trigger is VERY satisfying.

Somehow I knew this would end up being a pile of thinly veiled @L2P@ posts lol. Then again maybe I'm being overly defensive today to haha. I know I'm not alone though. I've seen many a post on different weapons and favorites etc where people mentioned loving the rifles but finding other weapons often more effective overall @shrugs@

Much of your success with sniper rifles will be effective use of your cloak. Headshot, cloak...reposition...if you've spent the points on your cloak you can clear out quite a few while they wander around wondering where they're dying from

Not to mention, they only follow you so far, there's an invisible circle around their camp they won't leave.

And so you just have to cross that line, and they'll turn around and run home...
