white bars on left are the progress so far... grey box to right are progress to next level (what you are working on now). It is better represented by bar on individual weapon window.

So white boxes are progress to skill level 20. Not the progress until the next skill level. I.E. if I was at skill level 5 the white boxes are NOT progress until skill level 6. They are progress until skill level 20.

Thanks. was kinda wondering why it took so long to fill up the xp bar. I thought it showed progress until the next skill point. Makes more since now.
