There is item scaling.
Once you hit 1900 EGO you'll find gear with 1.25 crit modifiers in addition to, or instead of 1.15 modifiers.
You find rifles which not only have -0.3 accuracy but also -0.5 - or even both combined!
You will get new modifiers like *1.05 damage.

Please complain about this not only because they have not gotten past like 500 ego, but they also do not take the time to understand the mods+weapons=better weapons and that is how the items largely scale. Yes you will see very slightly improvement on weapons about about 1500 ego, but even then the mods are going to make or break that weapon as badass. People just need to play... From the start Trion said that this is going to be a skill based game and not so much about grinding for gear.
In everyone's defense, it takes a long time to get to EGO 1900. But that's good to know the modifiers get better on as time goes.

It's taken me two weeks to get to 1k and I've been going pretty slow and playing a few hours per night. In fact, as far as missions go I've only advanced to Iron Demon Ranch and haven't even done the first mission there.
So one month to get 2k while playing fairly casually. Is that really considered "a lot?"

It's true, I got a bonus of +15% crit damage from hip shots! Pretty cool! Never saw that one before.
