    Lack of progression?

Let me start off saying i'm not bashing the game. I am however finding that there isn't much reason to do things in the game, other than earn keys, to buy your lottery ticket (lockbox) in hopes of more legendary weapons. A weapon whose stats are very similar to every other level weapon in the game. Within weeks of release, the "legendary" weapons are owned by almost everyone.

So onto my question, do you feel progression would give this game more drive to be played?

    No.

This isn't a game where the objective is to increase the numbers in your character window.

It's a game where if you are having trouble you practice and improve your skill.

I never said I was having any trouble playing the game. The thing i'm having trouble with is the reason to keep playing the game. I had really high hopes for this game, and its starting to feel like a dud. I did love the episode missions tho, and im looking forward to more of those

Progression? As I understand it technically the game is like a preseason of the series sorta. Meaning tonight the show airs and originally they planned on releasing new content to go with the episodes ? As I understood it we would prolly get 3- 4 dlcs we have to buy or use a season pass on. I figure they would have a last. Dlc being 5 for the season to be like a post season wrap up or maybe better yet to give you a pre season 2 warm up granting you early access to the series events sorta.

As far as current game content well there is a lot to do. I try to run my daily contracts and weekly contract if I have time. I have side missions left to do as well. And as for having a epic gun or legendary no I don't have what I want but even if I did get it it would be useless as I'm not maxed out in the ar skill yet. Think I'm at 17 so close and then I can worry about making it the best modded ar I can use.

Now the real question is will the series use weaksauce or awesomesauce?

But I do hope they add more content and things to do while the show is airing and when it is on break

By "you" I meant "the player of the game".

But re: your reply, you see increased numbers in the character window as being a reason to continue playing?

Because that's all you would get. If Trion did this they would also increase the stats of NPCs accordingly to stop the game from getting easier as you leveled up - the end result is that you have bigger numbers but the combat itself plays out the same.

Well... one thing changes. Because you now have NPCs with higher stats you introduce additional requirements to participate in content. NPCs are balanced against properly geared (or whatever other form of progression you prefer) characters which means they need to get the appropriate gear in order to be high enough to play through the content.

So yeah, bigger numbers & content gating. I don't see how that's a reason to play.

    progression?

    i would prefer LOGIC first

like with shields. some green resparks and My blue respark III have higher shield # and lower delay time till recharge than a purple respark IVD I had drop

A bit of logic would be nice, especially since shields can't be modded etc so that argument used by others about weapons just does not hold water

Hmm. What level is your purple compared to the green and blue? That might be a valid issue. However if your green or blue is for say a 1k ego and purple as maybe a 300 ego then I could see the green or blue being better

can't say because i scrapped the purple and rage quited for a day

& Trion's game despite the issues is so addictive I cam crawling back to play some more the next day. I must be a masochist and am Trion's Biatch gimp :-)

OH PS was definitely higher ego when the purple respark IVD dropped than when got the green resparks and blue respark III

Because I love copying and pasting:

There is, in fact, progression in the game. The problem? It's pretty deep in.

See early on most items have single stats. For example most items follow the following formula:

Green = 1 base modifier (1.15x crit dmg, or 1.10x magazine, or 1.15x melee dmg, etc)
Blue = 1 base modifier, sometimes a Synergy
Purple = 1 base modifier, 1 special modifier (15% grenade recharge on kill, 10% ego refresh on critical kill, etc), Synergy
Orange = 1-2 base modifiers (sometimes stronger such as a 1.25x crit dmg), 1 special modifier, Synergy

Now those are the basic stats on most of the weapons right out the game. It follows these trends pretty good with the only real noticeable thing as you level is full Synergies become more common.

HOWEVER...around 1600 that's when another progression tick comes into play. That's when you start to see basic level weapons get better and stronger. You start to see things such as basic greens having two set bonuses that are also stronger like an Orange:

    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=139277536

Note the way that Assault Rifle has a 1.25x modifier instead of just a 1.15x modifier. You also see Blues with full Synergies and again the dual bonuses:

    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=139277346
    (note that's +40% melee damage...)

This means you can have greens with stronger base modifiers than Oranges. Think of it like this:

Another thing you'll notice is these weapons don't have all their mod slots. Likely what this means is as things ramp up towards 1500 (around 750? 1000?) weapons get all their mod slots and then lose them when they tick into the next bracket of power scaling. Over time I imagine you will see more mod slots in the bracket as you work towards the next bracket (which would make sense if it was around 3000-3200 or so because that'd give a place for a final bracket around 4500-4700 leading to 5000).

So the real problem isn't that there isn't progression, it's that progression takes such a long time that your average player won't notice it for quite some time. I mean really once you hit around 1250 and have done most of the pursuits (or grinded a lot) things slow down quite a bit as Major Arkfalls become your only real source of XP. That means your average person won't be hitting 1600 for a while (since honestly it REALLY slows down 1400-1500+) which means they likely won't start to see these bonuses kicking in.
