<Insert Random Nonsensical Partly Humorous Slap To the OP's Face Comment Here>

Perhaps we should all vote on a new forum rule.. Every title should say if it's a whine-fest post so those of us who actually ENJOY THE GAME.. and now can say we ENJOY THE SHOW.. don't have to put up with so many pages of whiners, cry baby's, and the lovely trolls that are infesting this games forums like a bad case of crabs ontop of a double dose of scabies mixed with a very virulent bout of shingles!

still this does not answer the problem for us that didnt buy the game before today and those who will buy it later,
they will now miss the "introduction to the series" and will have no option to play it,
and stop the argument about all mmo's have seasonal events, seasonal events have never had a major part in the story of the game, its just easter eggs.

Perhaps you should stop looking into that mirror and actually at the thread and think outside of your personal thoughts, and maybe think about someone else's feelings for once?

I have stated many times this is unfair even for new players coming to play. Defiance s01e01 is probably already available on itunes or the next provider, the missions in question are called "episodes" why the f would you not be able to rewatch/replay an episode of anything?

Again, this is a MMOTPS I don't care what steam has. Here is the first sentence from wiki for you smarty with pink hair:

Defiance is a science-fiction-themed persistent world MMO third-person shooter from Trion Worlds.
    From Defiance.com:

Join the futuristic online open-world shooter where thousands of players scour a transformed Earth competing for alien technology.

And don't presume you have the only valid way of playing. I was very much enjoying just doing story quests, side quests, and Arkfalls. I was planning to get to the episode quests when I naturally flowed into them progression wise, but unfortunately they removed that option for me. I'm glad you got to experience them in a way that you enjoyed, I just wish I were able to do the same.

The launcher did not say they would be removed, only that you should do them before the 15th. This could just as easily be taken to mean simply that you should do them so that you'll be ready when the show starts since the game's episode quests, if you got to do them, lead into it. It was ambiguous. Supposedly they posted a definite "They'll be removed." on these forums, but it's a huge oversight that players were not informed in-game with more direct terms.

How does it make sense, exactly? Once the episodes air, I can watch them whenever I want. They don't disappear from existence, and their existence doesn't degrade the immersion of those who are on the current episode and waiting for the next one to air. The same could be said of the episode quests if they were left in. Just because players who haven't experienced them yet still can doesn't mean they are ruining the immersion for anyone who has completed those missions. The game already uses smart, heavy phasing (That I applaud Trion for) that will prevent any sort of immersion breaking as the world is tailored to what you have accomplished in-game. Thus, their removal was unneeded and only serves to make the story much less meaningful to those who start later and have much less of a connection to the characters and events.

Can they watch the missions on Youtube? Sure, but why ask players to do that in order to get a full experience? Wouldn't it be better to have them in your game and experiencing it there? I'd think so.
I should point out you clearly were not paying attention. When I first heard of this game it was very clear they would have episodic content to tie in to the TV show. It was not a mystery what that means. It means it will last right up to the episode. They gave warning on the updater. You had time to chase down Ark falls but didn't have time to complete a mission chain that took me all of 10 minuets to complete, all of which was this Saturday right after I purchased the game for the XBox360 because I was aware the content would go away today. I have less time than most, and yes I can post on the forums while not being able to play. If you feel you missed something than blame yourself for not paying attention. Because Trion advertised this is how the game will work.

    Ok.. let's talk continuity then...

If you bought the game tonight, then hey, welcome aboard!

However.. if you did just buy the game tonight, and you logged in and started playing.. and oh wow.. there's an Episode Mission! Then you go do that mission, and Lo' and Behold.. there's Nolan and Irisa standing in SAN FRANCISCO. But wait.. didn't you just see them fighting for Defiance (St. Louis)? Isn't that like 1500 miles away? How can they be in two different places at the same time? Are those the real Nolan and Irisa, or did some Indogene make clones of them? OMG.. The space time paradox!

Ok.. yeah.. I digressed.. but hopefully you see the point on why that first Episode mission was removed from the game. Yes, you never get to play it, but alas, no worries.. you only get a moderately decent purple AR for finishing it, AND Nolan screws you out of 90K scrip.. no biggie Really what the Episode 1 Mission did was set the continuity for the game being tied to the show, and nothing more. It wasn't a huge reward for playing, it didn't give you some uber-god-status or anything major.. just gave you a tie-in for the TV show.

Which, if you bought the game today, reality is, YOU are now the tie-in with the TV show by what we do in the future that affects St. Louis via the upcoming Episode Missions.

Only they didn't, talking with you is like talking to a wild mushroom.

Might even go as far as saying it's a bit therapeutic. So calming knowing you can just say anything and no one is listening.

Wikis by nature are editable by anyone. They are not proof of anything. The game mechanics are both Third person Shooter and Role Playing Game. You have a leveling system, and innovatory. You start at level 1 and progress as you gain XP. That is what is known in the Video Game industry as a RPG.

RPG describes a mechanic within a game. Third Person Shooter is also a Mechanic in a game they can both exist in the same game. See Mass Effect for a perfect example. After all ME2 is considered to be one of the greatest RPGs in video history.

As for unfair to players getting the game this week, not really. The weapon and outfits will hit the store fairly soon, those of us who did the content will only have a minor advantage.
