What doesn't make sense is that they remove the episode missions because of continuity with the show, yet when I create a new character Irisa and Joshua are still on the ship with me. I started a new character today because of the new patch, and if people create a new character when new races are released, we miss out on all of that stuff. It just doesn't make sense to me. It makes more sense to keep the episode missions in the game so that people actually see where Joshua and Irisa disappear to. Now they are just gone after the opening cinematic.
My thought is that they will hopefully put all the content back at the end of Season 1, trying to convince you to buy the show on Blu-ray for $120 boxset and then proceed to watch all the episodes again and do the quests. If they don't allow that I will be kinda pissed. lol.

Synching game content with TV content is brilliant, unique, and the one thing for me that got me to open my wallet and to watch the show. I think if the all the content was static, we would just have a game and a show in the same universe, nothing more.
The OP must be trolling, or not too smart.
Gonna hit some older replies that I think are relevant still.
Removing the first episode missions clearly completely screw up the continuity and the storyline though, at least if Trion ever expects you to meet Nolan and Irisa again. A large event happens between their characters and yours that's probably going to come up again the next time you see them. Players who missed the content will have no idea what's going on. The player character will likely be presumed to have participated in that part of the story regardless of if they did or not. Thus, continuity is screwed. So Again think of your character going through the story from said episode mission onward if you missed the first Episode mission well you weren't in that episode. Does it make it right that you weren't in it? Yes because you didn't do it or were unable therefore you weren't in that episode. It sucks, but again you shouldn't be able to go back and reedit a show just because someone who shows up later on should be in the first Episode. That makes no sense if you trying to keep continuity between the show and the game.
The fact that they are going to supposedly have rerun content for these missions eventually only supports that it's supposed to be a continuity that starts with the first episode mission regardless of whether the player actually gets to participate in it or not. Thus, barring players from experiencing that content very clearly throws the entire story out of loop. Player Ark Hunters from now on will have been presumed to have done something in the story that they have no knowledge of, unless they go and watch someone else play content that they should be able to instead play through themselves.
The ones wanting them to stay removed are the ones sacrificing the timeline. The missions don't have to be removed for them to be special, simply the fact that new ones remain on the cutting edge of the relation between the show and the game accomplishes that. All removing them does is prevent new or slower players from being able to experience the story in the way it was intended, which is to say as a complete experience starting with the very first episode mission. An experience that is now completely unavailable.but trading the entire timeline tie-in for the sake of the few who obviously weren't all that fussed about the episodic missions to begin with is absurd, be patient and let these missions be special, give them their time in the lime-light and when all is said and done you'll probably get another shot at them later.
Cheap and nasty? Giving customers options and the ability to catch up so they can have as much fun as others is cheap and nasty? I'm glad you aren't a developer.Trion aren't fools, they won't throw away content or forget about newer players, but in the long run it's better to treat the missions as bonuses for those actively keeping up with show as it airs then use them as a cheap and nasty way to get players to consider watching the show.
If the game to show connection is any good, this is exactly what is going to happen with how things currently are. Thank you.I see where you are coming from but when you consider that the number of people who have played every Episode mission is only going to get smaller and smaller each week, I'm not sure that's true. If I run in to Nolan during an Episode mission next month, he's still going to say "Hey it's you again, thanks for helping us with that thing" when I might not have helped him with that thing because I missed that particular mission.
Why? The missions disappear once you do them anyway. Phasing can be used to keep the world feeling like "real time" even if they're left in. Your immersion isn't affected at all by giving players an option to complete them whenever they want.Previous episode missions have to be removed in order to make the game world feel like "real time" with the show.
Blizzard made it much more clear what changes were coming with Cata and that some content was being removed than Trion did with the episode missions. I can see what you're going for, but this analogy misses the mark. Is it game design innovation? Sure, but the way Trion went about it is a poor one that leaves many customers wanting.Exactly. And do you know why Blizzard did that with Cataclysm? To add a sense of permanence and change in a game medium that is NOTORIOUS for being this rigid, self-repeating, grind of an experience. It's not JUST "Removing Content" it's an attempt at game design innovation. I really wish you all could see that.
Exactly this. I'm in the Air Force myself. I'm also thinking about the future and how much content I might possibly be missing due to how Trion set this up, and it's pretty disappointing. I just want to be able to fully experience the story on my own time in-game the same as anyone else who doesn't have some of the responsibilities I do. It's not Trion's fault I have those responsibilities, no, but I don't see why there has to be a conflict here.I myself did the missions already so it doesn't really affect me either way, but being Navy and prone to go underway occasionally I know I may miss a week or two (or more) fairly often and it is going to suck if I will miss such interesting game content and have no way to catch up.
Phew, long post done.
wow look at all the whining , its fine the way it is get over it.
As I have been blocked by an episode mission being borked at Miwoc Ranch, I do not think the missions should go away. But for that, I would have completed them all by Saturday for sure (barring another borked mission). I came to this late, but feel I will be penalized for them not fixing the code. I was told, just wait for the patch. I did not realize that would take the content away that I was waiting to be fixed by the patch. sucks to be me. lol.
