Besides, when did.. I don't know.. coming to the forums and jumping in a thread to participate in a discussion become such a no-no with this development team? I mean, this was one of the things the Rift team excelled at. They could step in here at any time and explain things, or let us know they're discussing our concerns, whether they're going to do anything or not to fix them, etc.

The communication here sucks. I'm so fed up of dancing around that issue.
Someone asked on today's live stream, Dahanese said they will try to make it more known in the future when stuff is going up and down next time, but the world does evolve and content will be taken out.

Not clear on how many people missed out and if they are going to actually do anything about it. I mean Dahanese isn't coding the game or anything so the answer seems justifiable.

I guess that isn't THIS thread exactly haha, but at least they said SOMETHING, sounds like it might be on their plate in house.

    Yeah that's really true.

But what I am concerned about, I go on vacations sometimes 2 weeks +, I do not like to "loose on" these episode missions ..
Also new players, I mean I want to fully play a game to it's finest, however I already know I can't certain things ...

    See my "problem"?

I am going to side with the OP here on this. Removing content every week from a game that needs more is just silly. I get what they're going for (weekly events) - I just think it's a stupid move.

Anyone who buys this game a month from now, or two months from now is going to be pretty irritated to find out they can't do a bunch of missions that people who've been around since launch can do. It doesn't matter what those missions were, or whether they were good or not. It's just going to put a sour taste in new player's mouths. If you tell someone they can't have something, human nature makes that person WANT it.

I also know that many of you will disagree with this - and I couldn't care less. I've read through this entire thread (and others like it) and there is NO VALID REASON why any content should be removed from this game, for any reason. If Nolan and Irisa are STILL in the tutorial mission (after they are now in Defiance/St Louis), there is no reason why they can't allow players to play through Episode 1 content. Nor is there a valid reason to place any episodic content in San Francisco this close to release.. It's just a bad, bad idea.

But I don't know what to tell them. The game is launched, the show is airing, its all running right now. This is where things are going to be. There's no turning back.

They've committed to creating a "living world," and at the moment that's what we have.
A living world in which I can clearly see two characters in the intro cut scenes that are supposed to be in Defiance?? Please...try again.

It became a problem when fans started following the words of devlopers like the word of God. When expectations were set upon projected ideas and hopes and dreams. But the realities of software development make this difficult. But fans cannot, or choose not, to accept that. Instead getting angry at what they view as "broken promises."

So instead its alot easier to just say nothing.

I can tell you that is not true. On the Xbox, at least, the intro screen said nothing but "Welcome to Defiance!" It never mentioned anything about the episode missions in the time I've been playing. Please check your facts before you go making blanket statements.

    Which is why I'm all for cutting them from that scene. Given the silent protagonist, and Von Bach's disregard for them, could just be NolanModel.Visible = false; NoalnAudio.Enabled = false;

That, or putting a timestamp on the intro cutscene (the VBI expedition began on April 2nd, 2047), and follow it up with the escape pod opening up on the present day. Or even after the tutorial ends, having a timestap say "present day."

Actually, I think it changed when Scott Hartsman left the studio, combined with the fact that the Defiance development team is a completely different team from the Rift development team.

It's like people wondering why SWTOR sucked when it was developed by Bioware, while ignoring the fact that the Austin Bioware studio was a brand new studio staffed with people who had never worked on a Bioware game in their life.

Just sharing the studio name doesn't share the magic.

Another post I 100% agree with.

There are too many valid reasons in post like this for this not to be a valid issue.

Absolutely true! Would it have been so hard to, for example, bring up a big timer at the Episodic Mission Quest Details, like "shtako, you have 1sec left to do this, or it is getting removed FOREVER and EVER"?

If i would have known, maybe i would have been able to set my priority to that just to "get off my checklist", but you know, there are people who like to complete everything a game has to offer, and Defiance has more than enough for me to do, with all it's little Sidequests and the PvP-component.

I really hope the developers make their mind....

Especially as they added with the last patch that you CAN REDO Main Missions.
