Like I have said before, you should consider episodic missions as moments in history in the defiance game universe, not everyone will be a part of every moment in that history, however poems, ballads and youtube vids of that moment will be made.

Honestly, people need to accept defiance for what it is, and what it is, is a attempt at making a beliveable ever changing game universe, with a ACTUAL timeline, that illusion would be impossible if someone who started the game 2 months from now ended up doing a mission that was supposed to happen during armistice day in the defiance universe.
But were not talking Armistice day. Were talking the prequel episode missions going down 7-8 hours before the show was aired tonight.

Why exactly? Who knows, sure they were supposed to be gone by tonights show, but that early before? Should have had at least an hour to rush home at 5 and get them done.

People just keep mashing in "well u knew" doesn't mean it wasn't poorly done and a bad design for new players.

The timeline means moot, considering Nolan and Irisa supposedly left weeks ago, so if I completed the prequel missions on saturday the timeline still makes no sense.

Not sure why ppl are reaching and grasping for any straw to take this content away from other players.

    Really lol.

    Cool post though.
New players will have the same content available that we will have available. There are rewards for getting into a game at launch, there always have been.

Are you against vet rewards? Holiday events and items? Special anniversary events and items? Unique events and items? Rare/limited items as well? Are you against the pre-order bonuses?

Should new players also get these?

If ever there was a need for the best possible side of this show/game interaction it's now. Still, it's only the first episode, maybe they do have things played for the 2nd or 3rd one, the show needed time to introduce it's characters after all, and the Episode 0 mission was more just a prologue than anything significant.
Sadly, it was more significant than this week's update. Seriously, pursuits?!

I didn't look very seriously at them yet, I thought that the big patch "coming soon" was supposed to have the new episodic content.

I'm fine with the other kind of rewards but story, especially story that was cut before the television series it is connected with even aired, I feel definitely should not be a vet reward. At least not when being a vet means you've played for all of three weeks. For a game and show which has stressed the connection of their story so much, I personally feel players should always be able to explore that connection.

It's fine if you want to only give out a special reward weapon for the first week or something, but story is sacred to me and not something that should be unnecessarily gated off.

The game has been billed as having deep connections with the show, and it seems like this decision flies directly in the face of that. Especially when many are waiting to see how the show turns out before they even check out the game.

The game is already a bit short on content, and the episode missions were a unique twist that allowed you to interact with the characters and events from the show. With them removed, that experience is severely negatively impacted by not being able to participate in a lot of unique, fun content. The missions should at least remain until the end of the first season.

I really, really implore Trion to reconsider this as I feel it's a big enough problem that it could really destroy Defiance's potential. It's already making me wonder if the game is right for me, and until now I was all in. Please Trion, think this through.
What will kill this game is stupid people that cant read or pay attention to information that was posted saying to do the missions before April 15.

It gets people watching the program and playing the game to keep up. Don't see a problem.. Your only missing out on 3 missions or so if you don't do them.

It's a fair concern, but as somebody else has stated, playthroughs of those missions will probably end up on YouTube. Likewise, the story from the content will almost certainly end up on the wiki. Sure it's not as fun as doing the missions, and you don't get the rewards, but regarding nothing but story, it shouldn't be an issue.

Sorry, if it were "sacred" to you then you wouldn't have waited to do it. The story was important enough to me that I did it prior to April 15th. Trying to use story being "sacred" to you when you willfully ignored the devs telling you to complete it prior to the 15th doesn't make a great deal of sense considering it shows the opposite.
