    Did you try to right click the Defiance folder and remove the "Read Only" checkmark?

    you can easily do that by right clicking the Defiance patcher shortcut on your desktop, clicking open file location, go back one folder, right click the defiance folder > properties > uncheck "Read Only"

    If this still doesnt solve your problem, I suspect maybe an antivirus is not giving the file "patcher.exe" the privilages to change files.

    If it is not an anti virus issue, I would check the privilages given to your user account on the computer that you are using, whether it is an administrator account or not...
    Everything was already on the straight. "Read Only" was never checked. (I looked at it several times just to make sure) Full firewall/antivirus pass-through. I am the one and only account on this PC with 100% administrative control. Double checked the administrative settings just to make sure also.

    I am having the same problem. Tried all of the above to no avail. Also tried the usual restarting and such.

    When the "Tier 2 team" has a fix for this I will reply here.

    Yea... I would have hoped that these "Teams" would have a little more drive to get the people who have paid for this product but are yet stuck unable to play into the game.

    I learned long ago, try what they say on the forums then just uninstall and restall. I am trying that now. Maybe it will work. But I would like to know what tier 2 says for you.

    I don't think we are that lucky. They are playing. While we are surfing the web and complaining on the forum.

    BTW: my reinstall didn't work either.
