Hustle and Bustle over the length of Xbox 360 beta... My thoughts

Not really responding to anyone here since most of the posters here have a good idea about what's going on, but for those still seething/searching for reasons etc... and because I want to write it somewhere...

The pre-order incentive GUARANTEEs you to be invited to beta. Doesn't matter about length or date, that's it. IF there is a beta you WILL be invited. Getting annoyed now at other threads with people's sense of entitlement.

That feels better, now I can ignore other compensation (ha) / entitlement threads.

I feel both sides are being pretty bad how the beta is being handled. People probably wouldnt be upset if they werent strung along for a couple of months with "news about the beta is coming soon".

For me if we didnt get a beta to try the game before buying I wouldnt have preordered the UE.If they canceled the beta then so was my preorder. I dont care if its only one day, its cool with me as thats plenty of time to get a feel for the game and if its my thing or not.

Ignore the posters saying they don't owe you a thing. You paid for a beta and if they don't give you one you'd have every right to go so far as to file a lawsuit over it. Its called false advertising/bait and switch. You can't do it so it would be helpful if thoose trying to argue they can go read up on the law and come back enlightened. The situation we have now is BARELy legal and totally unethical. Ok heres your beta that nobody can log into because its on a WEEKDAY. But don't worry I am sure you didn't pay for a preorder because you were expecting to IDK actually be able to log into the beta?

I've seen games before that promised one, and for reasons they couldn't help it never happened. I imagine it's hard enough making a game for 3 platforms before you have to deal with the respective companies. As much as I wanted a beta, my purchase wasn't hinged on it.

I miss the good old times when MMOs started to grow and you actually **** yourself of luck if you were invited for the beta. Now there's only complaining, no matter what.

Well as of now we wouldn't because there is a beta. I was saying if they canceled it entirely without offering refunds then somebody who had paid would infact have a grievance. That said this is the next closest thing to beeing criminal. Oh sure XBOX gets a beta as promised but nobody can log into it but for a couple hours IF its up when they are ready. And since most will be trying to log it on primetime the odds of that drop. I mean how do they even expect to get a decent stress test when nobody can log in. None of this makes sense.

Of course it doesn't make sense, it's Microsoft. They like to confuse consumers when they compete against rivals

Could it be possible that the stress test is during the week because it is a global beta and they want to see how the server holds up to people logging in and out all day? Could be why they chose Monday and Tuesday but who really knows.

There's a few things to consider (I've posted about them before, but they obviously got missed)

• Microsoft rarely moves on someone else's schedule, maybe the reason the XBL beta is on mon/tuesday is because that's when microsoft is available.
• You paid for a GAME, not a beta, if you bought just the beta... Then you prove the PC master race is well.. superior. To Include the garaunteed access to the beta is just fluff, to hinge all your hopes and dreams on beta access as your "test drive" to a new car... Wait for someone to write a real review. You arent spending the kind of clams a new car costs, not even close, dont even pretend it is.
• For Trion to offer PC beta keys to all XBL people that want more access, sounds to me like it isn't Trion's fault, otherwise they would just extend the time period. Go bark at Microsoft a lil bit an see if they will make a concession, I bet you wont get one, even if you threaten to goto PSN in your sig.
• I feel for those of you without the ability to take Trion up on the extended PC beta key, due to lack of PC power, but behave yourselves when you voice your opinions. You are disgracing your bretheren from Console-land. Also, get your facts straight, consider the above points, think.
• Any other MMO company I have dealt with, from Bethesda to Blizzard, EA to Bioware, and all the asian MMO's out there, not one, not a single one has been willing to make concesssions like Trion does, or respond as quick, or as honestly.

That being said, bring on the fanboy flames, I have DEFI stickers for armor. But you cant deny common sense all your life. Want to make a real differance? Take the arguement to microsoft. It's their servers, and their time frame, I'm betting that's why the short and awkward beta window.

I hope this doesnt come off as sounding hostile, or imflammatory, but sometimes you need a stern voice to get through thick skulls.

• If they cant even control the timing of the beta for there own game what happens the next time theres a conflict with ms? Like they want to star charging for content that is free on other services for example.
• We paid for a game AND a beta. Its a package. The whole thing is what what bought and a company can't cherrypick what parts of the product you paid for they will actually give you.
• Yeah a pc key that they could have gotten themselves easily enough. Gee thanks. Ya think if there pcs could run it they allready would be?
• The only ones disgracing anyone are the trolls who keep insulting the XBOXERS everytime they voice a complaint calling them every 3rd grade insult in the book,
• Concessions? Oh man I just wasted my time the beta has been extended and covers a weekend for XBOXERS! oh wait...

You have not a shred of proof MS did this but a post made by a TRION community rep sighting circumstances not entirely within there control. Which could mean anything. Stop Blaming another company without proof. And your last section is exatly what you claim the XBOXERS are doing. A complete insult. Implying they lack common sense and are slow and need you to tell them something more then once to get it.
