Why no FREE version of the game?

Why is there no free version of the game? We should be able to play before we spend $40 to buy the game for a season. I may be willing to pay, but I want to be able to play for a while first to see if I like it, and to see how well it plays. I can see having to pay for extra downloadable content, but for just the base game?? They should have advertised the fact that it would be $40 a season instead of letting people think that it would be free until they go to the website.

Watch gameplay videos. Look at the ego calculator.

Or wait a year or more for the free trials.

The best things in life are not always free. I am with you I love free demos, but they are not always available. Sadly doing research to decide if you want to play this game can be problematic, reviews seem to be all over the place. I think if you like third person shooters you may find some enjoyment with this game. Also I think it has a huge amount of potential.

It's a few bucks to play the game without subscription fees. And all the added content in DLCs(except cosmetics and flair) will be free as far as they've said. People are willing to spend abysmal amounts of money for the next generic War/Cover-Based shooter but don't want to try an MMO with ever expanding content? Well, okay then.

this is how i see it games last hours correct. a movie is 1-2 hours and most people buy a blu-ray movie for 30 bucks depending if its 3d or not you get more hours of enjoyment from video games then a movie. even a movie not released yet is like 10 bucks to see it in theaters its a joke.

You make no sense.... The game is free to play and its $60.... the season pass is just o get the DLC.. or you can buy it individually...

    Think of it this way:

For most high-quality PC games, you spend $60.00 to get them now. And that's been the standard for PS3/Xbox 360 games for years.

A normal subscription-based game would cost you $15.00 per month on average if you didn't get multi-month plans.

And you don't have to pay a dime if you don't want to after that.

So... basically you buy Defiance like you would Borderlands 2, Call of Duty Modern Black Ops Warfare 9001, Skyrim, Guild Wars 2, etc. And then you get access to the game's content (minus paid DLC) permanently to where you can come back at any time.

Sure, a demo would be nice. But you should be able to see for yourself what the game has to offer via livestreams and youtube videos.

Or just give it a month and see if your interest in the game is still there, and then look at some gameplay videos and reviews if you're really still hesitant on it.

Why don't you do your job for 4 years for free?
