Actually yes you can, when you boot up Defiance you see the intro and then you come to the Patch Installer screen, it's only AFTER you've pressed 'Patch' and the game connects to the servers is when you'll see the error message.

Please tell me you've actually got Defiance and you knew this already?

Incorrect. you can patch but the login servers are down. Side note there seems to be an error with XBOX so we'll be waiting some more.

Its attitudes like this which enable devs to drag their feet on fixing games.

There's NO excuse for this. Their major patch which was supposed to fix an already broken game, has caused the game the be UNPLAYABLE. How is this OK or acceptable? They haven't even commented on this development on their official Twitter account.

We have all been extremely patient with Trion. We all want this game to work and to be successful, but I'm really starting to have my doubts that Trion is the Dev that can make this game work.

C'mon Trion, lets get your act in gear.
