Trion - Why do you have so many issues on Xbox

Freight has been available to both PC and PS3 players since launch (AFAIK).

Dam defense has been available to them as well (AFAIK).

The patch today went fine for them, but not for Xbox.

What is it that is so hard to get things right on Xbox? It's basically built like a 3-core PC. In the past multiple devs have been quoted as saying it's easier to develop for because they already know how to develop for the PC.

So why in god's name are we having these continued issues? Is it Xbox Live's server architecture causing you headaches moreso than the system itself? I'd just really like to know because it's damm annoying feeling like the proverbial 3rd wheel in this mix.

It's not the hardware it's the OS. Microsoft is the root of all evil.

    Nope, it hasn't.

They've mentioned in the Community Blogs, that the XBox server side of things has been a pain in the butt.
Community Dev Blogs - If you scroll through some of the first posts from launch, Oveur(lead dev) talks about their trials and tribulations with the XBox Server side.

The XBOX cluster is a very complicated but wonderful beast, with very many moving parts. We are fiddling with all these moving parts, we take down the cluster, we reconfigure, add hardware to different functions, do server code updates, analyze network traffic, change the load balancers, change server protocols, move gateways around, poke the sgörneebörní (that denoted the end of my technical prowess).

For short, we have a lot of people analyzing, monitoring, watching constantly so many different types of logs, server metrics, dials and blinking lights (I’m on the blinking lights detail for some reason). We have external professionals as well, from networking specialist to Microsoft swat teams helping us out. That’s why you’ll see a XBOX client patch later tonight, it’s one attempt to change something which will remove the need for one of the load balancers amongst other things. Fewer moving parts, less things that can blow up.

We’re incredibly sorry for this state. This was by no means foreseeable. If this was just Game Server code, it’d be easy to diagnose. It isn’t. This is intra-server protocols between the entire cluster. But we’re on it. We didn’t scale these servers up from 2 people to 10s of thousands of people by luck alone.

Feel free to send a me a friend request or message through Xbox Live or a message through Defiance. I'm always looking for other Ark Hunters to explore and enjoy this wonderful MMO, Defiance.

Is anybody else getting the error screen saying the game needs to be re-installed? I re-installed twice and still can't play after the patch this morning.

I agree OP. Xbox and PC are nearly identical, yet they cant write for Xbox for some reason. A few months ago when Bethesda was trying to get the Skyrim DLC out to PSE they were saying that PS3 may never see the expansions for Skyrim because of its atrocious OS

They have so many issues because this is their first Xbox MMO. Also instead of their servers being direct connect to their clients on PC, on the xbox, Microsofts servers are a middle man. So not only does their 360 to Trion server comms need to be efficient and properly scaled but they also need to properly be talking to Microsofts servers. There's an extra layer there they don't need to deal with on PC

Because they are a joke of a developer. They sure ain't no 2k or Gearbox. If Gearbox made a Borderland. MMO (which is what Trion tried to copy), we wouldn't be having these issues almost a month after beta play.
