I guess going with that logic, that would explain the downtime. (Anybody who's had Comcast will understand)

    disclaimer: I'm joking.

Yes. But my pipe is 30 Mbps. And typically, I get 3-10 Mbps per second.

As an aside, Speedtest.net also uses Mbps, so even if people don't know what they're actually comparing, they're still generally comparing apples to apples. They just think the apples are potatoes.

In any case, my point is simply that it looks like right now, there's enough bandwidth to max most users pipes, especially if they're near a datacenter or a trunk.

Most people are used to seeing MB/s (and KB/s) and not mbps which seems like a simple ploy by trion to fool people into thinking they are getting faster speeds. For comparison this is the same rating that most ISPs use for your internet connection so keep that in mind.
^This. I noticed it as well and holycr*pped, until I noticed it's now registering mbps vice MB/s

...although I don't think Trion's doing it to fool anyone. Possibly to register correctly in the minds that don't know any better and are used to seein mbps from their ISP. The people that know the difference will see it immediately.

I only get about 6.5Mbps for the first 90% then it crawls along at 0.5Mbs for the rest.

EXACT same speed here. lol Comcast just recently increased the speeds in my area. Pretty cool to be able to do a gigabyte every two minutes, assuming the server on the other end gives you that.
