Why are the 99ers collapsing tunnels 2000 miles away from their home in Marin?
"I'm no lawkeeper," says Nolan and no shout out to Cooper?
Irisa is hot, the deputy has a poostache, series should have been on HBO so we could have nudity.

No what I wanted was Nolan to mention SOMETHING about how they just came from San Fran area.
No what I wanted was weaponry that in is the game to be in the show..... WTH Gun did the Gov. aid have.... COLDtech.... WTH is that?

What I didn't want in the TV Show was a clear rip off of Romeo and Juliet.
What I didn't want in the TV Show was poorly driven character development with mildly concerning issues aside from "Oh DEFIANCE is about to be rolled hardcore"

If you sit back and look at the show and look at the game what you see is a clear failure on the part of 2 dev teams to work in synergy to keep both sides happy. In short, so far, this is a failed attempt at drawing me into a show that was supposed to run tandem in plot with the game.
Damn you want a lot of crap. I guess they didn't have a billion dollar budget for their show. I could honestly care less. I really did not buy the game for the tandem between the show and the game. It's a cool idea but I think people expect way too much. I mean do you know how tedious it would be to match every little insignificant detail? Like i said they have to be able to stand independent of one another to be successful. Why the hell would i want to watch a show that was about the game I just played an hour ago and was exactly the same, when i could have my own character do all the things he just did? I don't think the idea of a interlinking show and a game is a great idea, and if you take it too such an extravagant level I feel it would be really dull and boring. I find that they include small details to be cool, and if they tie larger ones in that be great, but they cant be exactly same.

When both teams sat down and decided to create a game and a show that work together to drive a story they should have at the very least had the 2 take place in the same location, as it is right now I have no concern for what happens in DEFIANCE because atm I am still kicking dirt over NIMs corpse.
No, I do agree with you, I thought for sure at one point Nolan or Irisa were going to mention an Ark Hunter back in San Fran helped them acquire the crystal and whatnot. But like I said, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt since it was the premiere.

I'm pretty sure Irisa mentioned paying back Varus... and the Mayor had an offhand line about Ara Shondu. Not a lot, but at least there are some passing references.

Basically, he said that if the TV show gets renewed for season 2, there will be MUCH more tie ins between the game and the show. He said at that time they will have several months of gameplay history to tie in, as well as have much more flexibility on what to write into season 2.

Season 1 is already written, and was already written before the game came out. They cant change the script for actions that happened in the game, but the season 2 script has not yet been written, and they can write into it parts from the game that are happening right now.
Looks like ScFy wasted 100+ million dollars then imo.

Game is great, show is mediocre.

The worst thing about the show were the special effects. What's up with the driving scenes? Why are they so ugly? They could have greenscreened a vehicle and make the enviroment CGI. Yeah, they don't have a budget like AAA-series but come on. I've seen better games than 2005 cutscenes.

An other things was the rapid introduction of characters. Every minute a new character is introduced, this way you can't get a real sense of his/her personality and the relationships between the characters.

Other than that, I enjoyed the show and I'm curious for the upcoming episodes.

Sigh... you are right. I am just a little rageish atm. I was really just hoping for more subtle hints about the past from Nolan.

I don't think they need to be exactly the same honestly.
For example I felt the most powerful connection with the game and the show was the Bioman fight, the Bioman had the numbers on his chest and everything. I really felt that brought me closer to the show cause I could say. "OMFG I hate those guys!"

I could identify more with my main character on the show then before because I (in-game) have had to battle that same enemy.

However, the connection falls short when Hellbugs are not in the show but Bird bugs are.... I understand the show was done in production first, but then why do we have hellbugs in the game and not bird bugs?

There are plenty of moments when they can lace my screen with tid bits that visually tie me back to the game, but they just don't seem to push the synergy that way.

Basic Syfy graphics, someone thinks they are doing a awesome job but are really 15 years behind. Noticed that with most of the Syfy originals.

The car chase scene with Nolan chasing down the Gov. Aid was the worst CG I have seen in... well damn since the 90's. It was clear they used all of their CG Budget on the final battle.
