If i understand a little of this storyline mess, It appears that the show's reference to the Volge is actually Dark Matter in the game. Perhaps for reasons unknown to us, they could not use one of the terms in its opposing format.
nope apparently the volge connection never made it over from the alpha forums but someone over there while messing with files in the alpha build found a reference to and an intel picture of them embedded in the game files so they are or at the very least were intended to be introduced at some point in game imma go look that thread up and find the pic and put it here asap

    here you go

By side kick you mean daughter? You do realize they are not partners so much as she is adopted by him .... she also mention Nolan killed both her parents to free her, yet more backstory that could be fleshed out to make me hate Nolan ever more.

/shrug Sorry Nolan is just a really pathetic character to me so far.

In-game Nolan gets his hands on the Crystal, key, whatever its called. Varus wants this Crystal but Nolan ends up keeping for himself. Nolan says straight up that this Crystal is worth enough scrip to get him to Antarctica. He gives you his Rifle and drives away with the Crystal and Irisa. Now why would he continue salvaging Arkfalls in the show when he already has a crystal in his pocket that's worth enough scrip to get him to Antarctica?

I like both, the show a bit more than the game.
Things the show needs to improve upon:
    - the Aliens need to seem more alien, most talk just like humans, walk like humans and look just like reskinned humans
    - mention SOMETHING relating back to the game, apart from the crystal, I felt was watching something happening to an Arkhunter that had nothing to do with me
    - some more turmoil from the tera forming
    - STOP SHOWING THE DAMN PREVIEWS RIGHT BEFORE THE COMMERCIAL.

    From the game:
    - decisions that we can make that can be reflected in the show, even a slight mention of it
    - side missions which actually make a difference in the world (idk about you but doing them seemed to make no difference as raiders were still rampant across the plains, the hostages I just "rescued" are kidnapped against 2 minutes later)
    - more story! I understand there are data recorders scattered around to find, but it'd be nice to learn more things about the world, the mythos through cut scenes
    - some cool boss battles SPOILER FROM GAME
    SPOILER
    SPOILER
    SPOILER
killing that huge mech destroyer on the bridge was so anti climactic that I might as well have just been ported to the other side of the bridge, and the second mech (where i thought YES AN EPIC BATTLE) ended in a VERY similar way.
    END SPOILER
    END SPOILER
    END SPOILER

    - The biggest thing I think the game needs is the acknowledgement of your character. Our characters seems to just be errand boys, past the intro scene all you do is take orders and when something happens to you, it's as if no one cares, on the floor in agony? who cares, let's get going. mission plan? NO INPUT FOR YOU, YOU SHOW UP AT THE END AND FOLLOW ORDERS!

The Show will have ongoing content that will expand much further then the game which will have stagnate content that is repetitive and become boring.
You have 24/7 or so to play the game where as the show comes down to once a week content.
Game content runs out fast and you will have to wait for new content...impossible for them to release new content each week to appease the player base.
I agree that the show is better than the game. Just seeing how alive the town of Defiance is and then the utter lack of story or civilization in the game is kind of a let down. I think a show to MMO connection would have been better served with a MMORP than a MMOTPS. Perhaps they felt that the shooter crowd wouldn't appreciate story or an area where they couldn't go Rambo constantly? Either way.. meh.

One thing I don't like is that I thought the game and the show were going to coexist with each other. However I don't think that's the case. The show seems to take place after the war, where as the game is right in the middle of it. Locations aren't going to overlap either. The game so far is centered on the West Coast from San Francisco to what looks like lower parts of Oregon where as the show is focused on St. Louis, Missouri (now called Defiance). Since both locations are so far apart it is doubtful that events will ever happen in both. It's more like a, this happened in the past (the game) so now it's okay to mention it as history in the present (the show). The only way they'd overlap is if there is a larger map in the game. Possible one which stretches from Northern California over to Missouri. Considering how short the game is so far it's something I'd definitely recommend they do over time. Then maybe it would build up story to eventually lead to why Nolan is over by St. Louis in the first place, and why it was chosen to be the town of Defiance.

Hopefully there will be more of a character overlap. I'd like to see Cass, and Von Bach. I think I saw Torc in the show but can't tell.

Show shows Promise. I Like where it is going, with former Mayor behind Volge attack. I like that darkness. Not yet playing the game going to see how the show shapes up. I agree that effects were not up to par but with talents like O'Bannon from farscape and Michael Taylor of Star Trek DS9 I am willing to give them a fair shake on where the series goes. At least it is on the right channel to achieve a good market share unlike another network that will remain nameless (FOX!!) I am adopting a wait and see attitude.

    Long Live the Defiant Few!!

    Shtako!!
