I think the enviroment in the serie is pretty cool and i would like to see more of that in-game. At the moment, the tv series enviroment are more badass then the game.

Loved the show and the post show, already new that little of the game was actually going to carry over to the show but thought it was cool that the crystal Nolan steals from you is used in ep1 to save defiance.

Game is going down hill fast which I think will kill the show no matter how good it is.

Trion says (I'm in no way bashing trion) the game will determine what the show does but how? (thats how I undertand it) They have a whole season filmed and it takes place in 2 different areas...

    Show. is in Defiance
    Game. Is in San Fran

Personally I find myself bored w/the game and dont understand how anyone can grind out 5k EL in the same area or 1k for that matter.. I have a human that 793 and Im just completely bored and with the patch I was hoping for more side missions but all i got was redo story mode???!!! Cmon REALLY!!!!!? I've done story mode 2x on 2 diff toons why would I wanna do it again? and even then how would they add defiance to the map? Would it just be in the gray area that we can drive too?? that makes no kind of sense since SF is on wet coast and STL is on eastern side of country... Sure, I can do every time trial and all the repeatable missions but most scores on the list are hacked and I just dont see myself getting better than gold so what now? IDK I hope something happens, I have dumped 150$ for just addons like costumes and INV gear which I do not regret but I hope it wasn't a waste of money. I've been waiting for Defiance since the first mention of it and now I'm starting to get disappointed... n

The show I enjoy tho its cool to see the characters on TV that are in game. My fav part about the Defiance series/game is that trion had the balls to even try the MMOTPS on all 3 platforms!! right on Trion much props to you!!!

SHOW: Horrible sloppy mess of a story that so far has NO tie into the game at all. The only thing even slightly similar about the 2 is the fact the word DEFIANCE is in the title of both. ..... oh and a Bioman. The Bioman so far is the ONLY thing from the game and the show that tie together....
Did you see the lamps for Armistice day? Whats that you say? Did you watch the pilot? Yep No tie in what so ever.

Neither the show nor the game are particularly impressive. They have this idea to cover up short comings by cross connecting them and relying on one to carry the other.

A prescription for potential disaster arises when one is doing noticeably better than the other, and resources/development get thrown at that one - which then can unnaturally shape the progress of the other.

If I had to choose, I'd pick the game as I enjoy it. The show was such cheese and a typical 'for the masses.' The writing and production is corny. Very modern 'Sy-Fy' stuff.

Once more. The key is actually not whats valuble, its what it unlocks, the Teresphere (Round thing he gets from the Arkfall). Nolan knew what it was, and he was conning the player, don't believe everything someone tells you.

You've got it backwards, the game has little effect on the show, and the Show leads the direction of the game, but both stories are cannon. This has been in many articles, best one being last month's Gamer Informer that had a nice article on the how the show and game will work together.

Trion are just making talking points to push the game. That's all. The show is the main thing here. Something might happen where a character leaves Defiance and they show up in the game world or something but that's about it. The show is the big money maker here and Trion Worlds are getting whatever the director gives them to work with.

The show doesn't feel "serious" at all to me. I was hoping for something decent since the game itself is rated 18+, but instead it seems like yet another E rated family thing full of pointless drama nobody really cares about that will be canceled after one season or something, like the various terra nova, falling skies and other sci fi garbage that has aired the past few years.

    I hope i'm wrong.

And the game, well, let's just say it's an open beta

Explain to your mate that he doesn't speak for the whole of America. Most of us here in the states thought it was a horrid mess as well.

I am reserving judgement on the show. I will continue watching, but I didn't love it instantly like so many on this board seem to (there are a few threads about this).

I thought a lot of the acting was well below-par, although some of it was fine.
Nolan was fine, Stahma was fine, Irisa was alright (but the char is way too unlikable for a protagonist IMHO - they need to make her less annoying/crabby/relatable if they want me to care about her).
Tony Curran (Datak Tarr) is a great actor, but the role doesn't suit him IMO. I may get over this as time goes on (the race is supposed to be the "super models" of the Votan collective - I know his char was low born, but.. no).
Rafe McCawley was surprisingly bad to me (I normally am fine with the actor - he's been around forever).
Julie Benz (the mayor) hasn't always been that strong an actress (see buffy/angel) but she's gotten better over time and did fine.
I really don't get the love many have for the "Doc Yewll" character here at all - I found her to be (by far) the worst actor of the bunch - and that's saying something. I laughed (NOT in a good way) at her delivery of just about every single one of her lines.

What really needs work is much of the dialogue and general direction of the show. Some of the conversations were just plain bad, and many of the actors did nothing to improve upon them. I was a little surprised, since early Battle Star Galactica was pretty great (I continued to watch, but was less enthralled when the story-line eventually morphed into the west wing in space with a 3 minute fight or two every other episode).

I do hope the writing gets better, like I said, I didn't hate it.... but I think it could have been a lot better. I didn't expect Game of Thrones/Boardwalk Empire level acting/writing from the show - but I was still pretty disappointed.

TL/DNR - The game (even with the bugs) is a lot more compelling to me than what I've seen thusfar.
