Executive Producer on the SyFy half of Defiance, Kevin Murphy, recently sat down with Indiewire to talk about Defiance and how the two worlds will intersect.

During the interview, Murphy dropped the bomb that SyFy had already begun production on the second season of SyFy - a full month before the first season has even hit the airwaves!

With regards to season two, Murphy's comments were both telling and cryptic at the same time. He clearly alludes to a second season, discussing that they will be heading to Las Vegas in that season, but there weren't any solid details. It is very likely that season two is in the very basic stages of development, likely the story and script are still being formulated and filming most likely hasn't begun yet.

Well, one IP is not iterative of the other. Both worlds have a shared mythology that are developed concurrently -- it’s been this way since the beginning. As this goes forward, when we are talking about season two of the TV show we are also talking abut season two of the game. We will continue to try to tighten the relationship and crossover elements.

Now in the TV show when we travel to Las Vegas in season two, we know everything there is to know about the various people there. When we find something that doesn’t reconcile between the game and the TV show we either fix it or come up with a reason why it exists that way.

Wow you guys/girls are super critical. They have stated that we will not see anything substantial until they reach season 2. DVR the show so even if you don't watch it the show it gets credit for being popular. Keep the show going and we will reap the benefits in the game. Makes sense, risk vs. reward for the execs. I personally waited to buy the game until I watched the show. I was pleasantly surprised on the show's budget or at least the way they used what they had. It was a far better then most of the big in house productions on Syfy, and the main characters appear worthy of investing in, for the time being. I can however see that it appears they are locking themselves into the town of "Defiance" rather then staying in the Badlands and being "The Defiant Few". That aspect does look very limiting and I hope they don't pigeon hole the entire show around watching that "town".

Cool so we'll get a Fallout mod named "Defiance" seems good to me, would be a perfect amalgamation in my books. If it smells like shtako, looks like shtako and splats like shtako, well you get the wiff. I don't know guys, not enthralled or impressed with either, guess I expected too much in this day and age of fastfood everything.
