So is this a game a patch simulator or is there gameplay

Seriously I they should notify you that the server is down prior to asking you to patch. I have no problems with developers tuning games as capacity with test group is =/= to capacity while online. However this is getting old quick. How can they expect to sell season passes for their games when they cannot gaurantee that they are capable of being ran. They should put a email notification option for when the server is running as this would require less reading than when they are down.

If you have a Twitter account add @DefianceWorld to it and then turn on notifications from them. Now when they make a post I get an alert on my phone. They is how I found out about game updates from them.

Hey, this game is for sure a game, because until yesterday I played a lot with a lot of fun. Today is patch day for a newly release MMO and if you are not a MMO virgin, you should know that patch days are usually unplayable. You are not paying a monthly fee, so relax, and come back tomorrow, so you'll be able to play

im thinking of starting a club for returns......i loved the game at first but now its just to much to give a shxx about(911 ego what a waste).......compensation for wasted time would be a staple of the club.............when i buy a car it doesnt work 1 day a week it works everyday........if this was a car company they would be sued back to the stone age already

But they aren't a car company.
In my opinion the biggest difference between a car company and software company is that the software company distributes the EXACT SAME product to every person. A car company sells similar products. Designed to be the same, but because of minor imperfections in, say, the drive shaft, Car A might not be the exact same as Car B, though they're the same make and model. Meanwhile because everyone is getting the exact same data from the exact same source (example being that Steam has you download the exact same patcher that you get from the Trion website, but doesn't actually update the game via Steam :P), if something goes funky in the patch, then it effects everyone. The only differences in how the software is read/interpreted being client-side in the form of system specs from one person to the next.

It could be worse. I got locked out of my TOR account because EA wants me to use a "one-time passcode" because it doesn't recognize the computer I'm logging in from (the exact same one, not even updated graphics drivers, that I was playing on not quite a month ago) that tells me it's the wrong passcode. And in order to contact customer support I have to either 1. Subscribe to use the online features, or 2. Contact their customer service phone line. Even if I wanted to re-sub, I can't because I have to enter in the one-time passcode that doesn't work to login to my account. That's poor support.

Meanwhile, the folks at Trion are trying to keep things running smoothly. I seriously doubt they take pleasure from seeing these forums filled up with complaints about the servers being down. If you don't feel like the game is all that fun any more, then you can use one of the better features (personal opinion) and go play other games. The wonderful thing about buying once and being able to play until the servers are shut down is that the game will be waiting for you when you decide that it might be more fun now, for whatever reason. If it's not fun right now, take a look at how you're playing it.
Are you just solo-grinding to grind? It is an MMO after all. This might not be the best way to experience an MMO .
Are you playing with a tiny group that you've played games with for a few years? Do you get along with that group?

An MMO is more about who you play the game with. In the case of solo grinding, playing with no one will eventually lead to a vacuum of fun and/or burnout. While playing with a group of people that is too large for the content will tend to start causing friction when you try to join the instances.

Personally I enjoy the game immensely, I'm playing with a small group of folks that I've played with for years. I'm not happy about downtime but oh well.

And in the case of the "car works every day of the week"; you might want to rethink that, as sure from day to day it's a good judge, but will that car be working every day of the week for the next ten years? The downtime is a classic Software vs. Hardware thing.

i dont think you understand the concept of a functioning product........if it doesnt work it gets returned......maint for a new car 15 mins a month......this game 4 days of patches in 2 weeks....i could care less bout graphics and visuals i just want it to work.....IT DONT.....im not complaining bout something small this game is a disaster....if you think just because we are all affected the same it somehow justifies it your an idiot......anyway you color it,its wrong......broke game, money back
