Given SyFy's track record with shows worth watching... what do you think?

IIRC the first season has already been filmed.

I dunno. It's an ok show, nowhere near AMC quality but it's ok. I can see it getting a second season but beyond that is a huge toss-up...

There is probably a time constrained contract (i.e. a predetermined amount of seasons) that was agreed upon. That being said, the show was actually pretty good, so I'm hoping it goes on for awhile.

I'd say they have a pretty dang good track record then. Of all the years that I wached this station, they have only cancelled 2 shows without finishing them, and that is Stargate Universe and Alphas. Every other series they cancelled without finishing them were not worth watching anyways.

Stargate Atlantis got cut off at end of season 5. Did not evne get a movie to tie up the ending.

Stargate Universe was cut, but at least the ending was somewhat tied up.

    Sanctuary was cancled.

    Caprica was canceled.

    Alphas was canceled.

It not just SyFy, any network these days soon as a program dips below a certain ratings number it gets the axe.

Part of the Stargate problem comes from the Stargate franchise itself. They canceled their MMO a couple years back around the time Atlantis was canceled.

Desden Files, Eureka (yes they got to "finish" but it was still a cancellation), Farscape...those are just three of the top of my head that got the NBC/SyFy shaft

the high budgets of a sci-fi show usually make it short lived, and usually it doesn't come down to "does it make money" so much as "does it make LOTS of money"
Your Challenger won't drive? You're probably in the passenger seat.
Can't sell/delete an item? Check all of your loadouts, it's likely still equipped.
Auction house? Why? It'll just render bits purchased lock boxes pointless, and weapons are mostly equal anyway.
Gear/enemy progression? No thanks, it'll only render 90% of the content trivial when you reach the highest zone.
