Thread: Gun Stats

    Gun Stats

I am very confused with gun stats in this game. I understand mods but my big concern is comparing weapons to see if I found an upgrade. I had an assault rifle that had damage of 300. Then i found one with only 40 damage but a higher weapon level. How do i tell if it's actually an upgrade. I wish there was just a dps level

40 damage per bullet, at a much higher ROF. A straight DPS stat would just make everyone angry because enemies have different levels of armor so it would never be accurate for whatever you were shooting at.

So why are some guns considered better (better weapon level, more costly, reply, etc) when the damage is 40 but my gun which is apparently worse the damage is 312?

by higher level you dont mean the number that is next to the gun do you? If so thats the ego level in which you received it.

Considered better in what regard? Like, the numbers are green?

you really need to take into consideration everything about the weapon. The damage per shot may be lower, but the rate of fire higher compared to another. Then look at bloom and reload. Also consider Synergies, mod slots and nano effects. I think it's going to be a difficult process to find whats better than another. Weapon ego level (250 compared to 150 for example) has nothing to do with it really.

Use them, see which ones work better for you, and use those.

I mean better because it's rare. Whether it's green, blue, purple. And mine is just white. But also, these guns from rep vendors have much lower damage stat than a gun i got early in the game. I just find it hard comparing guns when mine looks better with damage of 312 and other ones are only 40. And those low ones you need rep for. It just seems like the guns you have to do dailies to get should be better than old free guns. I hope I'm making sense. I find it frustrating comparing guns

When you bring up the comparison table it highlights the stats in green or red if they are better or worse than the current weapon in your loadout. Though I do not think it takes into account synergies but I assume it does factor in mods if they in turn change the specific weapons stats that are used to compare weapons.

But I agree that it can be difficult comparing various weapons.

Any idea why sometimes a 6 on one weapon is graded as better than a 6 on another? My best guess is the real numbers are rounded, but that's just a guess.

Most purple items I found have special features that make them worth trying. The one orange shotgun I bought is really decent and I'm waiting for good mods to slap on it. My purple shield still beat the specs on a blue version (identical name) around 300 EGO levels higher. I'd say use color as a guide, but don't scrap your old stuff until you check out the new...
