    I was able to score 5+ HSs with flaregun per match, its instantkill. Players using low shield were killed by flame after bodyshot. Simplest mag for pistol adds +4 (white, accesable in any mod shop for 500), with 5 bullets in mag i was able wipe any size group in middlehouse at Observatory. Guess it wasnt op?

    The flare gun takes skills to use effectively, give nature of the of projectile headshot required a bit more skill than a straight shooting projectile. I would venture a guess that number of players that could use it effectively, is a small subset of population. Otherwise the posts flooding the forums would about nerfing the flare gun instead of shot guns. It iwas a high risk, high reward weapon, much like a non explosive sawed off shotgun. Besides one can roll away the dot and as players get better shield the dot becomes less effective.

    I am not saying that it wasn't powerful or that damage should not nerfed a bit, I am saying they went too far with it. A smaller nerf to the direct damage, crit multipler and dot, could have curbed power without crippling it. This current nerf to damage and crit multipler, without some buff to dot or reload/fire rate real hurts the gun as an option for pvp. I guess I will have to go back to using the courier.

    Flare gun is actually explosive with realy small AoE radius.

    I do fine with non explosive weapons, I just happen to like making things go boom( probably something I picked up from playing a Juggernaut in Tribes Ascend .Besides Flare gun explosive radius is so small as to be almost non existent, so using it means I actually have to hit the target and not count on splash.

    To be honest I've only seen it in pvp, often on my team. The dot and the high damage was a bot much.

    I agree that damage was as bit much and it could have used toning down. My point is that they nerfed it a bit too hard without balancing it out with something else. I would have been happier if the took 20% off the front end, decreased the crit multiplier a bit and decreased the dot damage a bit. But the current nerf without something like a dot increase, or a reload/fire rate increase, has hurt the gun a weapon choice, considering the skill it takes to use it.

    With weapon variety in this game, it is a shame that more atypical weapons got nerfed in this patch.

    I think high 500's or low 600's with the dot intact would have been fine. The pistol skill increase and the mods would put it on par or better then the shotgun shooting grenades.

    It still does a pretty good job with those pesky shielded Raiders, tankers, the flamethrowing 99ers, and blacklungs and such. But Biomen and Hulkings are laughing at the flare now.
