I mean, I did the Emergency missions when I came across them because, well, I came across them. I didn't even realize they were giving out keycodes (erroneously, as it turns out) until this latest patch and all the whining. I don't buy lockboxes for Real World Money because that just seems silly to me, when the contents of them are nothing I can already get from loot with a lucky drop anyway. I only buy them with resources if I happen to be next to a vendor and happen to notice I have enough to get one.

Clearly, I'm the odd man out here, because -- despite not maximizing my revenue opportunities or utilizing high-yield grinding algorithms or leveraging my synergy optimizations for optimal keycode acquisition or whatever -- I'm still having fun just playing the darned game.

    Weird.
The thing is Defiance has so little variation it gets old quick. Let's be honest, take out the loot and meta game aspects and what's left? A mediocre (at best) shooter. Trion is sacrificing fun to milk money out of people and it's not going to work, the base game simply isn't good enough.

Not the only one. Couldn't have said it better myself. I just didn't have the strength to.

How can you guys play the fun card and at the same time say that the lack of keys makes you do events less?

Yeah, but nothing has changed except for the fact that you're not getting keycodes off the hellbug randoms. Nothing else has changed about those events, at all. You're still going into hellbug nests or whatever, still shooting things, still having archers and other creepies shoot at you, bite at you, etc. So you are saying, that since everything else is the same with regards to these, and this change is somehow causing Trion to sacrifice fun, that the ONLY thing you found enjoyable about these events is the ability to trade that loot in for a minuscule change to get a weapon that you already had a minuscule chance to get from random loot drops anyway?

That's what i was saying -- for me, the fun is in actually playing the game, not acquiring fancy loots at a maximized rate, and for god's sake certainly not gambling away honest-to-god-real money for a chance at something I'm already gonna get a chance at getting anyway.

And I don't think Defiance has significantly less 'variation' than most MMOs out there, and certainly other shooters out there. Personally, I have three characters, and each one uses two different weapons almost exclusively because i like the challenge. Sure, I could just have the one character, and find out what maximizes damage at my level, etc., but that breaks the game down into -- to me -- dull, boring and repetitive minutia, as opposed to just playing the game to have fun and overcome the obstacles with the tools at hand. My medic with just an infector and BMG has to play the game in a completely different manner than my sniper/shotgun or my pistol/AR characters do. I'm leveling up all three equally, and I haven't found it boring yet, because each time I've done any of these events, missions, etc., I've had to play them differently..

It'll be easy once they implement mass salvaging and mass buying (even the ****ing keycode moves around so I can't keep hitting buy? wtf).

Right now trying to buy bulk codes with salvage is aggravating to the point where I'd rather just vendor for script. Which is, oddly, not a big deal since the lockbox rewards are usually terrible.

Slowing the progression/item creep? Really? It didn't seem like it ever really went anywhere :P

No problem here getting keys. Haven't and will not pay for a lockbox since they are easy to obtain in game.

Ok, I'm still not getting it, I'm going to need someone to explain this to me like I'm five.

If the loot drops from the lockboxes aren't that great, then why are some of you buying so many of them? That, coupled with how apparently impossible it is now to get keycodes leaves me completely confused as to why you do it. It's like you're going out of your way to frustrate yourselves.

Next question: Throughout this thread people have mentioned/complained about how the sky will fall but loot won't when the "double loot boost" expires. Double? Did I miss something? When I look at my self loot boost it is +10%. It's certainly nice but nowhere near doubling the chance of drops. Mathematically a double loot bonus would be +100% so what gives with the "we will get noooo loot when the paid boost expires" chatter?

"Having to grind more" is still a far cry from "pay for everything"

    Look in your pursuits

And with loot being reduced in these lockboxes, you really can't get anything worth grinding for anymore. So either pay cash money for dem lockboxes, or grind for hours on end to get the keycodes. And if you want decent outfits they're going to make you pay over 10 bucks per outfit. So much for micro-transactions. Nothing micro about that. And then they didn't even patch the outfit that you pay for in the collector's edition? Holy mother of all that is evil. Patching the game so people pay you more money. That is ultimately the tactic here. Greedy. Got green thumbs and not the kind for gardening.
Most outfits can be won through pursuits, some have different names but look similar just a variation of colors in the defiance store. so meh F&*k the store and just get ones trough pursuit completions.
