Used to play the 2012 version. Find it quite enjoyable, didn't loose even once when i used the vampire card deck.
Sucks that they removed the 3v1 Ai thing, cant remember the name, sorry.
I've dabbled. I play the paper competitively. If you can't get to an IRL tourney, than MTGO is the way to go. The meta game will always be a bit behind and skewed, but still fun. I can only suggest doing your homework before spending. This is where to start, http://magic.tcgplayer.com/ .
