whatever the case I wouldn't worry about it too much.

for me the bonus of a mouse is the fast to slow reaction speed. I can spin around super fast then slow down and aim with precision, which I can't do nearly as well with a controller. However this can be done by some people with the controller (which I think is insane btw). I can't but I do an alright job with a controller.

and for whoever mentioned Dust.. that game is a horrible game to use as an example.. its shooting mechanics are so clunky its rediculous (unless they have been vastly improved on since I first played) *The huge advantage that game gives to veterans is also rediculous*

I've used both, and I have been playing games like TF2 ( sniper class ) since it came out until my comp exploded, as well as done plenty of Counter Strike competition back in the day.

And in the end, I can freely say that there's not much of a difference to be had, especially in a game like this one. Controllers get a better range of movement and big ease when it comes to platforming even if they have slight impediment when it comes to fast and/or precision aiming.. but a good player can always make up for it anyway.

The only disadvantage people have is psychological.. don't matter if someone can shoot better then you, you can always find ways to kill him before he can shoot you, or find ways to impede his shooting.

i was in the first beta builds, it was awesome! i loved it. then they kept pandering to all the moaners, and made it worse and worse. now i havnt touched it in months. now its seriously imbalanced and the controls suck

yea i agree 100%. only reason this myth is around is because microsoft use it as there smoke screen to hide the reason they wont do cross platform.

Ive said it a few times, i played K/M players on xbox all the time, they arn't technically better apart from the odd snapshot and long range stuff, but most games rarley have a real long range game. PC's are just expensive consoles these days, like it or not.

Anyone in here ever compete thewgl btw?

Well its not really a myth.. I mean there is a big difference between the way a mouse operates compared to a controller which may make either one seem better then the other in some ways. Its more like people are making too much of a big deal about it when the actual situation where the whole 'aiming' controversy would actually come into play would involve a very dull, empty field with just two guys in plain sight on each side who can move pretty fast on either sides ( left and right ).

If you're a fan of one such game.. well.. good for you. But generally most games feature more dynamic environments and gameplay functions that allow someone to be good beyond simply being 'good at aiming' which makes the whole controversy pointless.
