Just order it, of course we're gonna get lots lots of content, Trion/Syfy has so much to lose. I expect at least first two DLCs are gonna be massive.

I bought my season pass. With next gen coming up fairly quickly I don't see me buying too many games this year. I have to save up for a new console. So I decided to invest a bit in Defiance. I bought the game, and so far have not taken it out of my Xbox. I run with some good buddies on mine and it has been a blast, even when we are just derping around destroying road blocks, but I digress. The fact that they aren't making it so people have to pay for the DLC is a smart move I think. It doesn't split the community but rewards the players that are willing and able to put forth a little cash so that Trion can continue to improve upon this game. Is it perfect? No, but what game is in recent years? The amount of games coming out with issues increases every year. At least Trion is fixing Defiance. How many broken games come out that stay broken?

You are incorrect.
Yes, there will be "Free" content for everyone on a continuing basis as both the show and game evolve...
...but those of us who purchase (or already purchased) get additional exclusive content. One thing are additional playable races!
New maps areas will also most likely be opening up!
But let's not put the cart in front of the horse just yet...Trion still needs to fix a lot of other issues. Like crap that has disappeared from my character!
You want my weapons...?

Unless hes willing to keep forking out cash like that hes pretty much threw money away.
At that level hes got top gear for about another 500 to 1500 at most..Oranges arent always the same, they like the guns get better because what boosts they have are based on the ego progression.
"Thats no moon. Its a space station."
I guess to reply to your original post i should add that i bought the seasons pass and deluxe after playing for a day not because i expect anything great from it but because i like to support Trion for delivering a product i enjoy using and i gladly support them![]()
yes everyone gets the dlc's buy them or not BUT if you buy them you get the missions that go along with them and the rewards that go along with this missions. This game is in no way buy to play if it was buy to play then you could just buy w/e you wanted for weapons funny thing. I have opened over 100 lock boxes most of them where tier 4 and never dropped one penny over price of game (true story)
I don't understand what is happening here. On every other forum I visit (to be fair, I never really venture into games forums), I rarely see such vitriol, hyperbole or knee jerking as do I here. This could be because the average age of the forum members elsewhere is a hell of a lot higher than it is here. Before I get flamed, that is not a dig, an insult or any kind of negatively aimed comment. It's just an observation.
Anyway, to the reason for this post. When I first learned of this key code reduction, I was slightly concerned. My immediate thought was, as many would agree, Trion are forcing a "pay-to-win" scenario. But, instead of jumping into the forum and blowing my top, I looked into what has happened. And this is what I've found:
- Ambient/dynamic missions don't seem to hand out keycodes anymore
- Some contracts/persuits now give keycodes - I've seen two persuits that reward with 8 keycodes!
- I have found no other changes that would "force" one to pay real world money to succeed with this game
So, my next reaction was a concern on how I would now earn keycodes to purchase synergy mod caches and tiered lock boxes. But then I remembered I can pay for keycodes using ark salvage. Here is an example from last night after the patch:
I completed four ambient missions. On one of them, a raider camp, I was rewarded with four item drops - 2 green and 2 white. Two other missions dropped two items and the last one dropped one item. That amounts to a mean average of 2.25 per mission. Let's be "glass is half empty" about this and round down to the nearest whole number, so that's 2 item drops per mission. If we assume that's one white and one green, that gives us a total of 750 ark salvage. With other random ark salvage drops, that means 10 missions will get you a tier two lock box. That's not including any key codes you pick up from co-op, contracts, pursuits, side missions, main missions and ark falls. Let's assume you do four ambient missions and an ark fall; 3 keycodes from ambient missions (ark salvage used to buy keycodes) and 5 from an arkfall. There is your tier 2 lock box.
Having considered it carefully, and from what I can remember, I had to do five or six ambient missions to earn 8 keycodes.
The way I see it, there isn't much more to do. Yes, you end up using precious ark salvage. But if the game was easy, it wouldn't be so addictive.
My only problem, for want of a better word, is the weights on which rarity you get isn't quite right. I have opened a lot of lock boxes and not received any oranges.
That's my thoughts anyway. It'll fall on deaf ears because most of you complainers just want to complain for the sake of it. You're looking for a war to join and this is it.
I bought the Digital Deluxe Edition, plus Season Pass, plus..ive just spend 24 bucks in the Shop...
Why, because i like the Game.
Yes it has flaws/bugs, but i am certain Trion will get rid of those.
