Actually those ratings are very good. Syfy is a paid cable channel, so of course it won't get the viewership of stations like NBC, etc.
Defiance is also Syfy's best premiere since Eureka in 2006

Ratings. If they start to get a too steep dropoff in viewers, they will cancel it. Think V(isitors) or The Cape. Though Fringe managed to grab a fifth season and if they haven't cancelled that...

Depends, usually they just take into account the US viewing figures and base it on that. It will be cost of show Vs viewership which in turn dictates the advertising revenue returned.

Check Blastr.com, they do a weekly viewing figures stat.

yes, but as they can't gather data it won't help a final decision.

For weeks people outside of the US have been complaining that they'll be unable to watch it. It premieres on Thursday in some countries, doesn't it? Then you have the people that watched it early on Amazon, the Syfy website or the torrenters. Hopefully those factors are considered. I enjoyed the show and the game, so hopefully it'll stay.

Huh. That could prove bad. Is US side of our player base strong enough to support the show by itself if non-gamer viewers will drop in their numbers? I mean imagine the number of game playing viewers outside of US?
