There IS ONE. It's next to the DECOY EGO Power.. when you launch off your decoy, it uncloaks all enemies within a certain radius of the decoy. Adding to the power increases the range of the radius. There's also a perk to reduce damage taken from behind by up to 30%. Their just not right around Overcharge, so it's no surprise people missed them.
mid range? Are you nuts, mid range I land maybe 2-3 pellets.
Anything beyond close range and most shotguns are useless. There is the birdy shot which clusters their pellets close, but the damage on that thing is horrible, you may as well use an assault rifle.
I agree with this post 110%. Shotguns are the only weapon filling their combat niche at the moment. Nerfing the damage will put them in the 'broken' category with the other weapons. As other posts had said before, the PvP maps we've been provided are for close/mid range combat. Since both types of shotguns were working as intended (close range weapon or mid when the correct barrel mod was applied), many complained how OP shotguns were in relation to the *non-shotgun* weapon they were using on that map. Cloak is caught in the cross-fire during the whole weapon balancing process.
I hear a lot of complaints about shotties and didn't really care for them much before but now that I am working on the pursuits that require leveling the different versions and getting tons of kills with a combat shotgun - they aren't half bad. Not as good as my SAW which I lay waste to most in PVP with even those pesky cloakers but still... I've only played a handful of maps and that was simply to get the new episode pursuits.
So far what I've seen is pretty much what someone else said - shotgun spread needs to be greater when hip firing and the rest of the guns need a buff.
For instance - I was leveling the SMG up for one of the combat pursuits and goodness do I hate that weapon. Is it not meant for running and gunning? Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at anything further than a few meters and the damage output was so bad enemies with shields like the 99ers or Dark Matter would have their shields regen before the gun could be reloaded to start doing damage to their health.
I love sniper rifles in PVE - they can be quite effective against mutants, raiders, 99ers & dark matter but next to useless against hellbugs and worse than useless in PVP unless someone is dumb enough to stand still long enough for you to headshot them. And even then the snipers have become so inaccurate that getting that headshot on a stationary target is blind luck.
Not going to bother going into the other weapons... havn't even bothered playing with explosive weapons yet but will have to eventually use the detonators simply for the pursuit. So yeah - in my opinion - most guns need a serious buff and stat balance to even the playing field against shotguns.
I think I'm going to settle this argument once and for all..
I'm going to jump into PvP this weekend.. I will NOT bunny hop once..
and to make it MORE interesting.. I'm going to let all you "Nerf-Ninjas" PICK MY WEAPON for me.
You pick it.. YOU call it out..
And then I'll come serve you a nice steaming hot plate of humble pied butt-kicking with it in Shadow Wars. And while I'm at it, I'll swat down those pesky bunny hoppers for ya too.
How about that.. who's game for some slaughter?
Obviously all the anger that's been building up inside you from all these years of gaming and alpha testing doesn't allow you to read or think properly anymore.
First of all, the purpose of the thread is to reach common grounds with PvPers and PvEers regarding what should be done about this issue.
Secondly, you mentioned game mechanics, am I correct? if you truly understand this concept you'll understand why comparing Defiance's to Renegade's is just silly. The thread is not even about bunnyhopping so don't derail.
Thirdly, it is up to the community to voice their opinion, and up to the devs to decide what is actually best for the game. If you can't take that you should probably stop gaming.
All this hatred is bad for you, take a chill pill.
This, There are counters, they just mean you lose out on flashier ego powers. There is this video < http://www.penny-arcade.com/patv/epi...fect-imbalance >
I think developers need to take time to see if it is truly game breaking balance issue; give us some time to work counters on our own.
