It really doesn't take all that long to get to the Monolith mission at the Golden Gate but it is fun getting to it. Considering got 5 days it shouldn't be a problem. The side story and challenges can wait. You could warp past but then achievements etc.. might be restricted.

I used to play WOW, Warhammer online and EVE online. Both WOW and EVE keep content. When they bring out expansion packs they never gets rid of all the previous content to make way for the expansion. I could go back to both those games now. Roll a new character and start in the same starting area and do the same starting quests as I did 5 years ago. There is just a ton more content that there was 5 years ago. Yes there are dynamic timed events but they do not impact the already fixed content.

Defiance seems to be making everything dynamic timed content. That is not good. I like the game but this is my first complaint about it.

The pursuits themselves aren't exactly content. The pilgrim events are nice for variation but nothing special. Sending up chinese lanterns was a nice touch though. The only things I would have hated to miss were the data recorders, those were pretty cool to listen to. I think we'll see more proper content additions next week.

As for wow, it would be more fair to compare the current episode related content to seasonal events. Besides, defiance has not been out long. We have NO idea whatsoever how they will treat upcoming content. Then there will be content that is not related to the show as well.

I don't think the problem is the barrier for SF, if you just do the story missions, it really doesn't take that long to get into SF.

However, as a few have stated, a pursuit is completely broken. Shadow wars are impossible to get into for some people and there is no capture and hold map.

Barriers are fine, especially when you can do them. Things being completely broken and then it ends, that is not fine.

Yet you bought the game knowing this... That is what baffles me with these threads. I knew before the game ever came out that Episode mission were only around for limited time. It is funny though watching a few people think they are entitled to do time limited things after the time limit.

I'm not up to SF yet. But I still think its a bit odd when I travel there to find mr one shot robot. Going, ok time to skip all the side quests and power through.
I'm pretty sure it was never cool in any mmo to gate stuff. (Until blizzard thought hey let's out a gate behind a gate).
I honestly wouldn't care if the pilgrims and the Lauren's disappeared fair enough, in game event like anything else. I'd be confused if the audio tapes disappeared tho.
Also, complete by 22nd, that's fine will capture and hold be out before that lol

All they have to do is make things a flashback so you accomplish them when you are ready and you do it by reminiscing about that time when you "...."

I think it's ridiculous to try to have these 1 week events in the game - what if you miss 1 week, does that dis-allow you to participate in the next week? What If I'm sick - or on vacation - or whatever and can't get in to play Defiance for a couple weeks. I miss out on a large chunk of content.

I'm 2 seconds away from just saying **** it to this ****ty game - especially with gated content and then removing content this way. Really not even close to worthwhile in my opinion being run this way.

I like to complete the side story as it opens up, along with working on the challenges in the area as I come across them. I know some people prefer to do the main mission only and then go back and mop everything else up, but that is not the way I play. And neither of those two ways should be "the right way". But, by placing timed content in San Francisco.. it sure feels like the developers are assuming everyone plays that latter way.

    And that's bogus.

Does WoW have xmas of hallowe'en missions? Are they still available?
Your Challenger won't drive? You're probably in the passenger seat.
Can't sell/delete an item? Check all of your loadouts, it's likely still equipped.
Auction house? Why? It'll just render bits purchased lock boxes pointless, and weapons are mostly equal anyway.
Gear/enemy progression? No thanks, it'll only render 90% of the content trivial when you reach the highest zone.
