i find it refreshing that u need to progress in main story to get to SF. ats the way it goes some peeps focus on pvp others on pve...u missed the bus, catch the nextone.
if you just got the game and u feel left behind-this is a evolving mmo in conjunction with a tv show= so dont get all worked up trying to get all the titles ingame or be 'the first one ..' you will stress urselfout, and other opportunities will come.

It's interesting how developers will hadle with missing capture and hold mode which is necessary to complete one of the time limited pursuits. Was there any word from them?

Cripes, I don't even want to go to San Francisco until I've progressed that far in the story naturally. Look, a huge part of what keeps an MMO interesting for me while doing missions is visiting new locations I haven't seen before. Key words there are "visiting new locations I haven't seen before while doing missions". Randomly visiting new locations before the storyline sends me to play there spoils that, and makes things less exciting when I revisit the area to do a mission.

I know some people like to explore the entire map while they're level 1 in other MMOs, but that's just not how I like to play. I want my "ooh! That's new!" feeling to last for as much of the game as possible.
Yea I'm exactly the same as I was a bit pissed to find out what the boss guarding the bridge was before I could destroy it which spoiled it for me a bit.

I'm curious about this as well, why even include Capture and hold if it's not in the game yet. Should have either left that part out or switched it to something else. I'd have to imagine we'll see C&H added back in before the content is removed. Otherwise... umm

only took my about 6 hours or less to reach and complete san Francisco story missions and another few more hours to complete all the side missions this game is very easy so yes they are thinking it shouldnt take the players that long to do these simple easy missions but then again the general public sucks at video games so they dumb the games down even more yet the general public still has a hard time playing these very simple games its laughable and highly pathetic at the same time

It's not about the playerbase sucking trip. It's about not wanting to rush through a game - at least for me. I could easily be in SF if I wanted to, but I am taking my time. I am not going to rush through the storyline and then complain that there is nothing to do. I duo this game with my GF, we do a mission, then an arkfall or a race/rampage etc. Sometimes we just run around, or do PvP or whatever. If we didn't we'd be "done" with the game in a weekend.

The timed pursuits aren't particularly meaningful. They are roaming around uselessly waiting for some special random event to take place so you can get a checkbox on some checklist. Completion awards you with either a new useless Title or... nope that's about all the reward you get.

I'd say if you insist on playing it slow and doing side missions and other wasteful content slowly instead of blowing through the main content to have access to all areas... then don't worry about these additional timed content stuff. The developers did say that after the TV series Season 1 is wrapped, they will likely make all the content open again for the DVD crowd or re-run or whatever... leading up to Season 2 starting.

I don't mind the timed content....when it is possible to log in for a couple hours and find the content. Unfortunately some of us have to work and families, but still put in almost 20+ hours of gaming a week. If in that 20+ hours I can not reasonably find the new "random" pilgrim missions, I do have an issue with the timed content. This is on top of having an almost 10 hour down time Sat-Sun during my prime playing time on the weekend. Timed content that randomly spawns + bugs and unschedualed server downtime does not make this a good situation.

Not quite true, none of the in game events was every repeated.. When Savador Sarpati of the Serpentis, stole the Gallente Titan and fly it across secure space and into 0.0 to his home system while being attacked and protected by the Serpentis and MC that only ever happened once.
When the Defiant's rose up against Amarr running months worth of terrorist attacks against the Amrrian trade fleets and military, finally ending with a pitched battle resulting in the unveiling and first fielding of the new at the time play built carriers, motherships and titans between the Defiants and the Amarrian navy, with the Gladiators from another arc joining the Defiants and going out in a blaze of glory against their former masters.. Again it only happened once.
Every only of such events happened once, from thing like those described above to escorting SoE ships to a planet hit by a titans doomsday weapon was never to be repeated.. So you was either there or you wasn't. And many of these events happened in low sec and 0.0 space. Some gave rewards from petty isk to others which gave single run fleet/pirate issue ships, but the main thing is they was never repeated and in areas that would get you killed, which put a lot of carebear players out of the picture.

I don't know about EVE or games like that, but I know WoW events pretty well. WoW had a couple limited one time events, but heres the difference between those and these on Defiance. When WoW had one, it was to introduce much larger areas, quests, and rewards. Take the gates of Ahn Qiraj opening, they had a huge event that was ment for more than just one person to complete, and it lead to the opening of two different raids which added new story, new quests, and new rewards. What defiance is doing is quite the opposite. They are removing content and a part of the story that tied the main characters of the show to the game. Most of the other WoW events are yearly. They have an anniversary and holiday events which means if you missed it one year, wait till next year and catch it again. Usually they add slightly different rewards each year while keeping a few of the old, but its still in the game.
