I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous (and no offense to Sledgehammer, as he's just the messenger). I went along with completing the prequel episode missions because they were all in areas that could be reached (although quite a bit further across the map than I had progressed via the main story, which was annoying in itself for my style of play). But these new pursuits have content all the way out in San Francisco.

Am I correct in my understanding that players can't access San Francisco until they progress past a particular point in the main story line (because a giant robot blocks the bridge)? My friends and I are only at the point in the Main Story where we've just finished Tranquility and have been sent to the Iron Demon Ranch.. far from gaining access to SF.

It is really frustrating to be offered timed content that is literally beyond the reach of players, especially when these game-to-show "tie ins" are supposed to be such a major element of this concept. Why are you forcing players to race through the main story line, *especially* when your game really doesn't offer all that much entertaining end-game content beyond PvP and achievement pursuits?

There should be no timed content placed in areas that are gated by progression. We're two weeks into the game and you're acting like everyone should have had enough spare time (and few enough problems/bugs and server downtime) to have gained access to San Francisco at this point. That's insane. I don't understand what you're thinking here.
Even if you don't find the time to do the episode missions or pursuits, it does nothing to spoil the enjoyment of the game. you miss out on a few outfit items and titles. and who knows, events like the pale wars festival may reappear next year.

The armistice event will more then likely be a yearly event, 15th of April 2031 will always be armistice day in the Defiance timeline.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see a few more yearly events appear in the future days to come.

As for those who say they can't access san fran as they have taken their time with the main missions and don't have any friends that they can jump to.
Have you tried asking someone that is a high level to help you?
just inspect them to see what level they are.. and if they are 600+ there is a high chance they have crossed the bridge, either ask on area voice or send them a tell (/t player name message) and ask if they can help you. (the /t command works on all formats)

Like it matters anyways the new content isn't that "great" it's more of the same pursuit stuff that gives little reward and does NOT effect the show. Would be great to actually see some of that promised stuff in game already.

Maybe they just didn't have enough time to play or didn't realize the episodic content would disappear (raises hand). In any case, removing the missions that tie directly into your show is a very poor decision. What Trion has just told me is "oops! you missed it! You snooze, you lose, and you're never seeing it again!"

Now, as for episodic pursuits being on a time limit, yeah I can get down with that. They are achievements that have no bearing on the story line and make for a dynamic game world. But don't get rid of the quest line that introduces your show's 2 main characters!

Im not sure if you read the full post, I said that it was a ONE TIME EVENT earlier in that post. I stated that it was meant to open up the huge area and new content. These events were designed for special occasions like releasing new expansions, or huge content. They were not intended to be something that happened every week just to have a part of a story put in then taken back out.

I don't understand why half the posters don't get it. This soon into a game they shouldn't have put episodic content behind the gate. I and half the people playing it seems are not there yet. If they had done it in a few months then I don't think anyone would be complaining.

Whether or not the content in San Francisco is vital missions or information to understand the world or just some extra it would have been nice for the developers not to assume everyone was racing to get there. Especially the ones who bought a bit late or are having bug issues.

I totally understand why people don't want to jump in there. There is so little content and space in this game compared to most MMORPG that a lot of people aren't flying through the content nor do they want to jump ahead. Nor did we realize that the second issue would require us to in order to experience some of it.

Yes lots of us have played other MMO's with seasonal type content and lots that are ok with content being there for a short period of time and some not accessable to lower lever characters....are not happy with this because this is DIFFERENT. It is three weeks into the game and it seems like the developers are trying to push us to rush through to what? Replay missions? Do emergencies and arks over and over? Play only endgame content?

Way to engage your new gaming audience.

Yes, this is blowing it in terms of my gameplay also.

Could I have tried to cross the bridge when the robot was glitchy? Could I ask someone to get me across into San Fran?

    Yes.

But should I HAVE to? No.

I'm not going to gain access to San Fran before the event is over--and I'm not happy with that. Because I didn't rush through content to get access, I lose out.

I thought that bridge robot was stupid before and I really feel it now. It either should not be there or there should be some other way around it. Not to mention that it's ineffective any way because, if you've got a friend on the other side, they can just bring you over.

What this is doing is (okay, here we go...) putting soloers at a real disadvantage.

There are many of us out here and, to me, this is just another way to screw us.

So damn true. It's as if Trion WANTS to turn us into the "Done and bored!" complainers this early into the game's lifespan.

Controversial suggestions here--but i spent my ducats on the game so i think i have the right to make them.

Either disable the robot or put in an SF ferry npc at the bridge while this content is available. Most of you feel it's just a minor inconvenience to have a friend port you over any way--so what benefit does the robot really serve other than annoying those who don't group?

Next suggestion--don't ever "hide" timed content like this again.

I didn't know about timed content until a couple days ago, mainly due to me not having the game until a a few days ago, So I already missed out on the tv missions and outfits which sucks considering the second episode just aired...
